BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Special to Turf Diario)— Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo released the purse structures on Thursday for the upcoming República Argentina meeting. Scheduled for May 1, the card features six Grade 1 events on the dirt with total prize money reaching $564,450,000 pesos.
The afternoon’s signature event, the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1), will offer a total purse of $213,000,000, with $100,000,000 reserved for the winner. Entry fees are set at $4,260,000. Nominations for the series close Monday, April 20, with final declarations and rider engagements due by noon on Monday, April 27. The post-position draw will take place that afternoon at the Paddock Tribune.
The Gran Premio Criadores (G1), for fillies and mares at 2,000 meters, remains a vital international fixture. As part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series, the winner earns a "Win and You're In" berth to the Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) at Keeneland on October 31. Breeders' Cup Limited will cover all entry fees and provide a $40,000 travel allowance for the winner. The race carries a total purse of $95,850,000, with $45,000,000 to the victor.
Other G1 highlights include the Gran Premio de las Américas - OSAF ($85,200,000 total purse / $40,000,000 to the winner) and the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires, which offers $30,000,000 to the winner of the 1,000-meter sprint. The juvenile division is also well-represented by the Gran Premio Montevideo (G1) and Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1), each featuring a $53,250,000 total purse.
