Hark Theangelssing triumphed in the Stormy Blues Stakes (L) and allowed the son of Scat Daddy to reach a new outstanding milestone in his international production

LAUREL, Maryland (Special for Turf Diario).– The growth of Mendelssohn as an international sire added a new chapter last weekend when his daughter Hark Theangelssing became the 50th stakes winner of his career by taking the Stormy Blues Stakes (L), contested over 1100 and a half meters on the turf course at Laurel Park.

The 3-year-old filly closely tracked the pacesetter through most of the trip, made a decisive move upon entering the stretch, and ultimately prevailed by a neck, capturing the first black-type score of her campaign and handing her sire a new milestone of relevance.

The mark confirms the solid present of Mendelssohn, one of the most prominent sons of Scat Daddy, whose production continues to expand across both North America and South America.

Currently standing at Haras Don Alberto in Chile, where he serves at a private fee, the stallion began his stud career in 2019 at Ashford Stud—the American division of Coolmore—and spent several seasons shuttling between Kentucky and the Southern Hemisphere.

A half-brother to the extraordinary Into Mischief (Harlan's Holiday), Mendelssohn was one of the major international stars of his generation for Aidan O'Brien and the colors of Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith. His most important victory came in the 2017 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1), though he also achieved massive notoriety for his spectacular triumph in the UAE Derby (G2) at Meydan.

With just six crops and five of racing age, Mendelssohn already boasts statistics that fully back his rise as a sire. Out of his 995 foals born, 521 managed at least one victory, totaling 1,388 wins and more than 40 million dollars in purses around the world.

Furthermore, he has already produced five international champions, validating the ability he displayed on the track to transmit speed, quality, and versatility.

Among his most outstanding progeny is Awesome Czech, the highest money earner of his production with over $630,000 bankrolled during her campaign. In the current season, the leader by earnings is Mendelssohn Bay, a specialist at Meydan racecourse who already accumulates more than $214,000 following strong performances this term.

The victory of Hark Theangelssing puts back into the spotlight a stallion who continues to consolidate his position on the international stage and who, at 11 years of age, keeps expanding a stud legacy that seems far from reaching its ceiling.
