If there’s one thing the Sunday meeting at Hipódromo de San Isidro offered in abundance, it was quality racing. In addition to the stakes races, there were no fewer than seven 2-year-old races, though admittedly a bit diluted by being contested on dirt instead of turf as initially planned, due to the conditional races being moved to protect the main track.

Fortunately, there were some truly standout victories among the juveniles, such as the stunning debut of Isla Grande (Mask and Conspirada, by Lizard Island, Haras La Valkiria), who lived up to her favoritism, winning by no less than 10 lengths over Mind for Mindy (Cosmic Trigger) in 1m5.94s. Trained by Marcelo Sueldo and presented by Juan Pablo E. Díaz, the filly from Stud Pauli broke from the widest gate, took the lead early, and pulled away with ease.

A little later came the Premio Tamagochi, over 1100 meters, where Campo Verde (Strategos and the classic Sinalina, by Sebi Halo, Haras El Paraíso) also debuted and won, tracking Mr. Mitre (Reride) until the 300-meter mark, then taking over and pulling away to win by 6 lengths over Radiante Boy (Starry Boy) in 1m6.5s. Juan C. Villagra rode the Miguel Cafere trainee, who races for Stud Mamina, and was a huge favorite.

In the division, the sixth time was the charm for Viejo Cuchara (Il Campione and Stormy Sky, by Mutakddim, Triple Alliance SA), from Stud Tinta Roja, who put in a tremendous performance, breaking sharply from the gates and pulling 13 lengths clear of Arc of Success (Angiolo) in 1m5.40s, with Francisco Leandro aboard. The chestnut colt was trained by Ramón Acuña Candia.

The fillies returned to the track in the Premio Met Day, over 1400 meters, which saw the redemption of the Brazilian Party Day (Outstrip and Ohneguinha, by Vettori), from Stud RDI, who won by 2 lengths over Doña Katrina(Seahenge) in 1m26.28s. Alfredo Gaitán Dassié and Adrián Giannetti shared in the victory photo.

Shortly after, in the second division of the Premio Met Day, there was another perfect debut, this time from Zaireth(Equal Stripes and Zuhoor, by Exchange Rate, Haras Abolengo), who showed great quality by battling from a tough spot to win by a head over Intrusión (Gouverneur Morris), helped by a lethal ride from Francisco Leandro. The time for the Nicolás Martín Ferro trainee was 1m25.21s.

Finally, the two divisions of the Premio Sei Romano were run, also for juveniles and over 1400 meters. In the first, Tiempo de Estar (Strategos and Tormenta Tropical, by Bernstein, Haras Ojos Claros) won the duel over Winston(Forge), beating him by 2 lengths in 1m23.68s. The colt, also trained by Nicolás Martín Ferro, was ridden by Kevin Banegas.

Meanwhile, Ardiendo (Remote and Albinia, by Dynamix, Haras Las Retamas) continued his improvement, scoring his first win in his third outing by cruising to an 8-length victory over Amiguito Jesús (Todo Un Amiguito) in 1m24.64s. Enrique Martín Ferro prepares the colt, who is owned by Stud San Isidoro, and was ridden by Eduardo O. Pavón.
