Tiz the Law shattered the mold with a quartet of G1 triumphs infused with the signature flare of Scat Daddy

Siring four G1 winners over an entire season represents an extraordinary balance for any stallion. Achieving that feat in just three days, across two hemispheres and with four different offspring, is an accomplishment reserved for an elite few. Tiz the Law has joined that privileged club following an unforgettable weekend that further elevates an already stellar start to his stud career.

From Saratoga to Santiago, the son of Constitution stamped his authority on four of the most prestigious races during the final weekend of August. Fully Subscribed dominated the Personal Ensign Stakes (G1), while in Chile, Kerouac, Astromelia, and Makhulu swept the Polla de Potrancas (G1), the Las Mil Guineas (G1), and the Polla de Potrillos(G1), respectively.

The magnitude of this achievement has few recent precedents and strengthens an inevitable comparison: that of Tiz the Law with Scat Daddy (Johannesburg), another stallion brought from the United States to stand at Haras Paso Nevado, where he sparked a genetic revolution in Chile before ascending to global prominence.

Naturally, replicating Scat Daddy’s legacy sets a towering benchmark. His influence transcended borders, surfaces, and generations, featuring stars across both hemispheres and a sire line that reached its apex with American Triple Crown winner Justify. Yet, comparing them at equivalent stages of their stud careers, Tiz the Law’s initial output in Chilestands even higher in terms of individual G1 winners.

The weekend onslaught began Friday at Club Hípico de Santiago with Kerouac, who solidified her standing at the top of her division with a 2 3/4-length victory in the Polla de Potrancas over 1,700 meters on the turf. Positioned several lengths off the pace for much of the running, she launched a potent stretch drive to seal the race with absolute authority. La Del Estribo, another daughter of Tiz the Law, ran third to complete a banner result for the sire.

Kerouac also carries a direct connection to that golden era of Scat Daddy. She is the only racing foal out of Kirikina, a G1 winner by Verrazano, whose dam Kitcat was a standout Chilean daughter of Scat Daddy and a double G1winner. Rather than replacing one lineage, the cross serves to extend and amplify it.

On Saturday, Astromelia took center stage in the Las Mil Guineas over the dirt mile at Hipódromo Chile. The daughter of Tiz the Law and Alumina (Lookin At Lucky) settled near the tail of the field as a hot early tempo unfolded. Navigating traffic in the home stretch, she exploded once clear to collar another daughter of her sire in the final strides, scoring by three-quarters of a length.

The sweep was completed on Sunday back at Club Hípico with Makhulu in the Polla de Potrillos. Settled mid-pack early, the dark bay swung wide entering the stretch and drew off effortlessly to win by 4 1/4 lengths. Berlinale, another son of Tiz the Law, finished third, just a quarter-length behind the runner-up.

Makhulu is out of Miscanti, a daughter of Scat Daddy, reuniting the two flagship stallions of Paso Nevado’sinternational shuttle program. This cross has previously yielded top results with Dastan, out of Dalala, and Bahía Perdida, whose dam Bay Harbor is also by Scat Daddy.

While his South American crops swept classic races, Fully Subscribed provided the North American punctuation mark with a commanding display in the Personal Ensign at Saratoga. Racing for Klaravich Stables under the care of Chad Brown, she romped by 9 3/4 lengths, bringing her career record to five wins from nine starts and earnings past the $1 million mark. It marked her first G1 triumph following runner-up efforts in two previous top-level attempts.

Tiz the Law’s impact in Chile is no sudden emergence. His inaugural crop had already produced two G1 winners: Bahía Perdida, heroine of the Tanteo de Potrancas, and Dastan, winner of the Alberto Vial Infante. With Kerouac, Astromelia, and Makhulu, his tally of individual Chilean G1 winners now stands at five.

His South American resume also includes G2 winners Montenegro and Voltaje; G3 winners Neto Positivo and Bengasi; and listed stakes winner Let It Tiz. Furthermore, numerous offspring have earned black-type placings behind their own paternal siblings, reflecting remarkable depth beyond the headline winners.

Tiz the Law stood in Chile at Haras Paso Nevado during the 2022, 2023, and 2024 Southern Hemisphere breeding seasons. That racetrack success quickly translated to commercial momentum, with his progeny fetching record prices during the recent yearling sales.

A winner of the Champagne Stakes (G1) at 2, and the Belmont Stakes (G1), Florida Derby (G1), and Travers Stakes (G1) at 3, Tiz the Law possessed elite racecourse credentials. Now, with eight global G1 winners and progeny succeeding across both dirt and turf, his reputation as a sire continues to expand.

Scat Daddy left a benchmark at Paso Nevado that once seemed unmatchable. Tiz the Law is early in his story, but his initial returns suggest that historic legacy may have found its successor.

Looking ahead, Paso Nevado’s international pipeline continues with Timberlake, a son of Into Mischief and fellow Champagne Stakes (G1) winner at 2 in the United States, set to join a stallion roster that made history with Scat Daddy and now celebrates the explosive rise of Tiz the Law.
