Bred by Haras Firmamento and trained by Ángel Sánchez, he secured his second win since March while also providing Wilfrido Torres Maldonado with the 120th victory of his career

The investment made by Stud Chanta in acquiring the well-bred Tiznow Forever (Midshipman) at the Haras Firmamento Training Sale last March is already paying excellent dividends. Sporting his new colors, the chestnut has now won two of his three starts, delivering one of the highlights on Thursday’s card at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermowhen capturing the Handicap Picapleitos (1800m, fast dirt), one of the two top-level events of the day.
For jockey Wilfrido Torres Maldonado, the victory marked the 120th of his career (according to Stud Book Argentino), allowing him to graduate from apprentice status. Benefiting from the scratchings of heavy favorites Ronda de Ases(Forge) and Operístico (Daddy Long Legs), Tiznow Forever made the most of the opportunity.
Settled early on the rail just behind Ettore (Il Campione) and Life Long (Long Island Sound), who set splits of :25.21 and :48.81, the son of Midshipman was angled out to the three path entering the far turn. From there, jockey Torres Maldonado asked for his run, and Tiznow Forever quickly took command, shifted back inside, and opened up into the stretch. Though he began to shorten stride late, he comfortably held off the late charge of Boyero Spring (Greenspring) by three-quarters of a length, with Valle Barún (Vástago Salvaje) another two lengths back in third. Final time was 1:49.72 after fractions of 1:13.80 and 1:36.70.
Trained by Angel Sánchez and bred by Haras Firmamento, Tiznow Forever is now starting to reap the benefits of his Northern Hemisphere birth date. His record stands at 10-3-0-2, with earnings already surpassing ARS$17,000,000 (approx. US$18,600).
Out of Tiz Forever (Tiznow), Tiznow Forever is a half-brother to Tiz Joy (Fortify), winner of the G2 Clásico Eliseo Ramírez at San Isidro earlier this season. They are the mare’s only two foals of racing age.
