The final top-level action before Christmas will unfold on the straight courses at Palermo and San Isidro, with the Listed General Alvear headlining at the city track and the Potri Pe taking center stage at the northern venue

As is usually the case on Tuesdays, the country’s main racecourses have finalized their programs, the last ones of a season marked by a clear lack of standout stars.
The highlights will come down the straight and among fillies and mares aged three and up. At Palermo, the Clásico General Alvear (L) will be run on Monday, while at San Isidro the Potri Pe is scheduled for Saturday the 20th, to be contested under handicap conditions.
Looking ahead to the Alvear, ten runners have been confirmed, headed by the promising filly Sarzana Pass (Distinctiv Passion) and stakes performer Beau Breeze (AP Candy). The remainder of the field is completed by Bantia (John F Kennedy), Enjoy Dancing (Hi Happy), Envidiada (Il Campione), La De Dudi (Aspire), La Farce (Emmanuel), Santa Calma (Qué Vida Buena), Una Felicidad (In the Dark) and Verdadera Pass (Distinctiv Passion).
On Friday the 19th, at Avenida del Libertador and Dorrego, the main attraction will be the Handicap Orpen, to be run over 1600 meters and open to five-year-olds and up, all winners.
There were several withdrawals from the original entry list, leaving nine runners, with Blessed Shine (Honour Devil) tasked with carrying top weight of 59 kilos.
He will face Gigantografía (Bodemeister, 58), South Briole (South Kissing, 57.5), Reina Casada (Long Island Sound, 57), Master Jane (Mastercraftsman, 56), Emma Linda (Emmanuel, 55.5), Vengan y Vean (Manipulator, 53.5), La Bombonera (Portal del Alto, 54.5) and Hi Chasty (Hi Happy, 53).
As for the Potri Pe, only seven of the 13 originally entered fillies were confirmed. Doña Cucha (Storm Embrujado, 51.5), Firenze Key (Key Deputy, 52.5), Portuaria Lure (Puerto Escondido, 56.5), Pretoriana (Daniel Boone, 52.5), Sunny Frank (Gidu, 53.5), Sylvania (Manipulator, 51.5) and Vieja Amiga Mask (Mask, 57.5) will line up when it matters most.
As is well known, there will be no racing on Wednesday the 24th due to Christmas celebrations, as has been the case for several years now.
