At seven years old, the Stud Bien de Abajo runner scored an easy victory in the Vicente L. Casares (G3), rounding out a phenomenal day for trainer Nicolás Martín Ferro and jockey Gustavo Calvente

Trainer Nicolás Martín Ferro is still trying to process what he experienced Sunday at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo. “We arrived with three horses that all had good chances, but for all three to win is just incredible,” he said.

The comment came in the wake of a fantastic and unforgettable day for the conditioner along Avenida del Libertador and Dorrego, capturing every major feature on the card. First, Blue Caviar (Equal Stripes) took the Clásico Eduardo Casey (G2), followed by Flying to the Sky (Señor Candy) in the Handicap APHARA, and putting the cherry on top, the mighty Treasure Island added another golden chapter to his brilliant campaign with a decisive victory in the Clásico Vicente L. Casares (G3-2500 m) over heavy dirt.

What more can you ask of the Treasure Beach colt? Absolutely nothing. The bay has more than earned a spot on the nightstand of owner Claudio Rodríguez, so he can admire him every evening. He’s a true star.

At seven years old and with a long career behind him, Treasure Island delivered a masterclass in class and determination, dominating from wire to wire. Endor Rye (Endorsement) applied constant pressure and tried to get past him in the early stages of the stretch, but when the winner put in his move, the contest was over almost immediately. Treasure Island went on to win by three lengths, with Billion (Galicado) finishing ten lengths further back in third, and Valle Barun (Vástago Salvaje) coming home 90 lengths behind the winner.

Covering the 2,500 meters in 2:37.98, Treasure Island notched his eleventh career victory in 30 starts, missing the board just once and surpassing 173 million pesos in earnings—a phenomenal figure.

A special mention goes to Gustavo Calvente, who guided both Treasure Island and Blue Caviar, posting a stylish double in stakes company and signaling that his new partnership with Nicolás Martín Ferro has started in spectacular fashion. No one will now question Calvente’s talent as a rider or the formidable ability of Treasure Island.
