The Gray of Agu-Na-Die Put On a Show at “El Bosque” and Delivered Another Win for River Midfielder Ignacio Fernández

LA PLATA.- A great show was expected in Tuesday’s renewal of the Clásico 25 de Mayo de 1810 (G2-1600m) at La Plata, and the horses delivered in style. The outcome was decided in the final stride, as Monsieur Delon ran down Paraná Miní(Winning Prize) after tracking him throughout, in a display of grit and class, while favorite Storm Sound (Hi Happy) failed to fire over the heavy, testing ground and finished fifth.
Owned by River Plate midfielder Ignacio Fernández and racing in the colors of Agu-Na-Die, the Il Campione colt was coming off a win in the local Clásico Colombia, and before that had taken the Clásico Buenos Aires (G3) over the Palermo turf—both at a mile.
Jockey William Pereyra was instrumental in securing the victory, showing poise not to pressure Paraná Miní too early and never giving up when, from the 200-meter mark, it seemed the leader might escape.
The patriotic feature was run at a solid clip, with early fractions of 24.63, 47.77, and 1:13.2, and a final time of 1:39.88—a commendable effort given the deep, muddy conditions.
A distant third, seven lengths behind, was Es Aristocrático (Angiolo), while Garufa Mask (Mask) tried but failed to join the battle in the stretch and settled for fourth, just ahead of Storm Sound, who simply couldn’t get a grip on the sloppy track.
Trained by Jorge Mayansky Neer at his Palermo base and bred by Haras Santa Inés, Monsieur Delon now boasts 6 wins in 16 starts and over 30 million pesos in earnings.
Out of Madame Kris (Exchange Rate), also dam of G2-placed Madame Inés (Violence), Monsieur Delon has clearly found his ideal stage at La Plata. Several mile targets lie ahead on his path to the Clásico Joaquín V. González (G2) on November 19, with a likely next stop in the Clásico 9 de Julio – Día de la Independencia (G3).
