One of the standout attractions each year during the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1) meeting is the G1 Gran Premio Criadores, a 2000-meter dirt test for fillies and mares that carries an added incentive: the winner earns an automatic berth into the GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff as part of the “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series.

Serving as the final leg of the Campeonato de Oro for females, this year’s renewal—set for May 1 at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo—will notably be missing newly crowned multiple champion Charm (Strategos). After an easy comeback win in the G2 Clásico Bullrich, she delivered the worst performance of her career when finishing a disappointing fourth in the G1 Gran Premio Gilberto Lerena.

A total of 12 fillies and mares are expected to line up, with Martana (Fortify), Cannolina (South Kissing), and Portal Maya (Portal del Alto) emerging as the key contenders.

In the Bullrich, Martana finished second, Portal Maya third, and Cannolina fourth. However, the script flipped in the Lerena: Martana did not run, and Cannolina delivered a commanding performance to defeat Portal Maya decisively. Their rematch here adds a compelling layer to the race.

Also among the leading names is G2 winner Miss Talento (Equal Talent), joined by a competitive supporting cast that includes Angelic Champ (Cima de Triomphe), Class Life (Fortify), Doña Lucila (Equal Talent), Embrace It (Daddy Long Legs), Existing (Winning Prize), Herd Immunity (Forge), Kalisia (Fortify), and Niebla Peligrosa (Daddy Long Legs).

The Criadores offers ARS 45,000,000 to the winner, along with a Breeders’ Cup bonus of $40,000 to help cover travel and entry expenses should the winner contest the Distaff.

Connections have until Monday at noon to finalize entries, with a confirmation fee set at ARS 1,725,300.
