LA PLATA.- Marcelo Sueldo continues to make his presence felt at La Plata, even if his name does not appear on the programs due to his suspension, being officially represented by Juan Pablo E. Díaz. Yet there is hardly a meeting that goes by without one of his runners hitting the mark.

Tuesday’s card was no exception, as the trainer based at Campo 2 of the Hipódromo de San Isidro saddled another standout performance, courtesy of the filly Ucrania, who maintained her unbeaten record in three starts with an authoritative victory in the Premio Cuddly (1400m, fast dirt), the race that opened the program.

The daughter of champion Nicholas (Equal Stripes) delivered a polished display, proving clearly superior to a demanding group of rivals. With championship-leading rider Gonzalo Borda aboard—Sueldo’s regular go-to jockey—the bay filly advanced steadily from mid-pack, took control at the top of the stretch and drew away with conviction.

She crossed the wire two lengths clear of Vida Bohemia (Winning Prize), stopping the clock in a strong 1:23.16, over a track that was in excellent condition.

Bred by Haras El Mallín, Ucrania had made a winning debut over 1100 meters at San Isidro in mid-August, stepped up to 1400 meters here in September to score again, and now confirmed her steady progress. She appears ready to make her first move into stakes company.

Another of the afternoon’s expected races was the Premio Now Mont, contested over 2000 meters for 3-year-olds with one career win. In a tight finish, Señor Dalton (Señor CandyPura Química, by Offlee Wild), bred by Patricio E. Donovan, returned to winning form after finishing fourth in the Clásico Provincia de Buenos Aires (G2).

Ridden with patience by Lucas González, the representative of Stud Comalal launched his run in the stretch and managed to prevail near the wire by half a head over Ídolo Zen (Zensational), in a time of 2:04.99. The favorite Easy Going (Il Campione) never took part in the fight and finished last, well beaten.

Prepared by Carlos A. Cardón, Señor Dalton shapes as one to watch next season in distance events.

On the wagering front, total handle reached ARS 277,375,467, with an average of ARS 18,491,698 per race.
