The Tinta Roja mare stands out in the lead-up to the Clásico Otelo A. Orlandi (L)

LA PLATA.- Before the Clásico Miguel Luis Morales (G2), El Bosque will host another important prep race to warm up the engines: the Clásico Otelo A. Orlandi (L, 1600m, dirt) for fillies four years and older, run under a weight-for-age scale and offering a modest winner’s purse of ARS 4,066,000.
A solid contender despite a 200-day absence is Una Bataclana (Dasbter), one of last season’s top juveniles. She claimed the Precoces Final and Amilcar A. Mercader (L), was runner-up in the Derli A. Gómez (G3), third in the Carlos Casares (G3), and fourth in the Eliseo Ramírez (G2), performing consistently across the country’s three main tracks and both turf and dirt surfaces.
Inactive since December, when she finished fifth in a conditional race in a lengthy comeback attempt, she now faces the rising Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson), recent winner of Jalimba (Señor Candy) in the Handicap Haras de La Pomme.
Traveling from Campo 2 at San Isidro is Poliziana (Fortify), who closed six and a half lengths behind Fiesta Porteña(Fortify) in the Clásico Omega (G2) in her most recent start, but showed solid form earlier in 2024 during the prep season with a runner-up finish in the Cooperativa de Criadores (L) and fourth in the Gran Premio Enrique Acebal (G1).
With just one win under her belt, Al Fin del Mundo (Manipulator) stands as the biggest surprise factor after an unexpected runner-up finish to Resiliencia Holiday (Cosmic Trigger) on the turf at San Isidro. However, she will need to step up her game...
