LA PLATA.- Tough, consistent, and always willing, Una Causa closed out Thursday’s stakes triple at La Plata in style, delivering a commanding front-running performance to take the Handicap Haras La Esperanza over 1100 meters on a normal dirt track.

Carrying top weight of 58 kilos, the daughter of True Cause was, as usual, sharp out of the gate, quickly grabbing the lead and never looking back. She accelerated into the stretch with authority and left no doubt, drawing off with ease under a confident ride from Kevin Banegas.

Jugadoraza (Winning Prize, 54.5) tracked her from the start and briefly loomed a threat before giving way to finish four lengths back in second, a strong local debut. Another length behind, La Sirenita (Le Blues, 54.5) closed from mid-pack to take third, just ahead of Señora Bagaces (Lizard Island, 57). Favored Churrullera (Fortify, 57) failed to fire and settled for fifth, beaten 6 3/4 lengths.

Trained by Darío Banegas and bred by Haras Don Santiago, Una Causa stopped the clock in 1:05.31. Nearing her sixth birthday, the bay mare now owns 8 wins from 25 starts, with 4 of those coming above the allowance level, having previously captured the TimberlakeJockey Club del Paraguay, and República de Panamá Handicaps.

Racing for Stud Fortaleza Granate, Una Causa is also a half-sister to Moto Ninja (Hat Ninja), runner-up earlier this week in the G2 Clásico Raúl Aristegui.
