LA PLATA.- Most expected Es Aristocrático to deliver in Tuesday’s feature at the Hipódromo de La Plata, the Clásico Uberto F. Vignart (G3, 1200m, dirt), a race he had already captured in 2023. Sent off an overwhelming $1.10 favorite, the son of Angiolo failed to justify the market’s confidence and was comprehensively outclassed by a powerhouse Valdobbio, who closed the year in style, reaffirming his speed credentials and projecting as a major player heading into 2026.

The son of Hit It a Bomb out of Valdobbia (Equal Stripes) was unstoppable from the outset, seizing control as soon as the gates opened, dictating terms at will, and turning the race into a one-horse show in the stretch.

Ridden by Daniel E. Arias, the bay colt trained by Raúl Ramallo posted splits of :23.93 and :47.06 before drawing off emphatically to score by seven lengths over Es Aristocrático. The favorite failed to reproduce his best form, suffering a second consecutive defeat after his Nov. 19 loss to El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo) in the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2).

Three-quarters of a length back, Oro Azteca (Empire Aztec) completed the trifecta, a neck ahead of Antiguo Secreto(Angiolo). Emm Yugo (Emmanuel) trailed home well behind, with Beat Me (Cosmic Trigger) and Encantador Pass(Distinctiv Passion) scratching. The final time was a creditable 1:11.28.

Bred by Haras Firmamento and racing for Stud La Elbita, Valdobbio notched the fourth win of his career and his second stakes success, having previously captured the José M. Boquín (L) in September.

Pedigree enthusiasts will note that Valdobbio is a grandson of stakes winner Volcana (Roy), a sister to G1 winners Valery Lady (Roy) and Vacacionada (Southern Halo), as well as to graded performers Vacacionado (Roy) and Vanguardia (Roy)—all members of the prolific Vacación (Voodoo) family, a line that has delivered elite performers both domestically and abroad.
