Verenna delivered her finest performance at just the right moment

The daughter of Cosmic Trigger scored with authority in the Clásico Sibila (G2), outshining Adi Shakti by a length; she capped off the card's superb graded stakes tripleheader and completed a big-race double for jockey Iván Monasterolo

The Clásico Sibila (G2-1600 m, turf) was by no means an overly grueling contest. The field was compact, and the pace failed to truly test the runners to their absolute limits. Yet none of that should diminish the merits of Verenna, because the mare representing Stud El Chorrito produced without a doubt the finest performance of her career.

She won handily and with authority, displaying a level of polish she had flashed on various occasions but had never managed to showcase so emphatically in graded stakes company. If any lingering doubts remained regarding her capability against rivals with proven credentials, the daughter of Cosmic Trigger erased them on the track.

Partnered with Iván Monasterolo, Verenna once again capitalized on her natural speed to sit comfortably near the front. She traveled smoothly throughout, conserving energy while biding her time for the decisive move.

As she entered the straight, she quickened, took control, and began to open up daylight. She required no frantic urging from her jockey to hold off the inside bid of Adi Shakti (Lucullan), who tried to close the gap but never truly threatened the outcome.

At the wire, a length separated the two—a margin that felt even wider given the sheer ease with which Verennahandled the closing stages. A further 2 1/2 lengths back, Orphila (Daniel Boone) took third ahead of Lancara(Manipulator).

Verenna entered off a dominant score in the Handicap Petite Ecurie, a effort that had flashed promising signs. Previously, she had proven her versatility across different surfaces and distances, securing victories in the Clásico Omnium (L) and Clásico Vit Reina. However, the Sibila presented a different kind of test: she had to face some of the top older turf milers around and step up in a Group 2.

She passed with flying colors. No stress, no doubts, and leaving the distinct impression that her ceiling has yet to be reached. At 5 years old, she has reached the maturity needed to blend consistency with high-level performance—a combination that had previously eluded her.

For trainer Eduardo Accosano, the result brought immense satisfaction with a mare he knows inside out and has always believed in. Bred by Haras Juan Antonio, Verenna is by Cosmic Trigger out of Noche de Veda, by Orpen, and now boasts 7 wins from 16 starts, with the Sibila marking the signature victory of her record.

It was also a fantastic afternoon for Monasterolo, who just moments earlier had captured another major headline riding Colifato Novo (Lenovo) in the Clásico Ecuador (G2).
