LA PLATA.- The 3-year-olds will once again take center stage Tuesday at La Plata, with the Clásico José María Boquín (L, 1200m, dirt) drawing a field of seven colts.

Viejo Cuchara (Il Campione) looks the one to beat after turning back Richardisong (Emperor Richard) by 1 1/2 lengths in the Clásico Club Hípico de Tandil (L), showing continued progress despite a demanding schedule.

The race could also provide the perfect stage for Garboso Frank (Gidu) to solidify his sharp upward curve, having broken his maiden narrowly over this same track before returning to score again at Palermo over the same trip he’ll face here.

Adding further intrigue is Valdobbio (Equal Stripes), who exits a clear 3-length win at Palermo over Sea (Daddy Long Legs)—who came back to turn the tables—after having earlier finished a modest fourth behind Viejo Cuchara.

Plenty of seasoning is also on the side of Vampiro Zen (Zensational), who steps back from the classics to refocus on sprinting. In this sphere, he captured the Clásico Forli and later ran a huge race when second to Liberto (Hurricane Cat) in Palermo’s Clásico Old Man (G3).

Completing the line-up are Andrin (Manipulator), runner-up in the Club Hípico de Tandil, and Vendaval Joy (Roman Joy), winner of the Clásico Nueva Generación, both of whom should add plenty of spice to the contest.
