After more than a year, the son of Horse Greeley returned to winning form in the Handicap Haras Abolengo, where neither Glorioso Rim nor Mago Beto ran

LA PLATA.- The withdrawals of Glorioso Rim (Remote) and Mago Beto (Dabster) left the Handicap Haras Abolengo(1200m, dirt), Thursday’s feature at this venue, without its two leading contenders and wide open to any outcome.
The one who took full advantage was Arcanum (59 kg), who, after more than a year, returned to winning ways, showing flashes of the form that once made him one of the best colts of his generation here.
A past winner of the Clásico Benito Lynch (L) and the Clásico Asociación Bonaerense de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3), in addition to numerous placings at the highest level, the son of Horse Greeley captured a race that proved both unusual and spectacular.
Representing Stud El Romance, he broke sharply, but it was Atrevido Electric (Electricity, 60) who quickly took command. The eventual winner lost ground and, for a long stretch, appeared unlikely to factor in the outcome.
However, Miguel Sosa kept urging him along, sparked his response, and Arcanum delivered a decisive late run in the stretch, taking over inside the final furlong to score by 2 lengths over Redentor Scat (Knockout, 53 1/2), with Atrevido Electric tiring late to finish third, a half-head back, in a time of 1:12.58.
Bred by Haras de la Pomme and trained by Brenda Ribot, Arcanum recorded the fifth victory of his career from 30 starts, snapped a long losing streak, and proved he still has more to offer.
