There are weekends that mark a definitive turning point in a professional's career—those moments when the whip seems to transform into a magic wand and the planets align with surgical precision. What William Pereyra engineered across the two-day Carreras de las Estrellas festival in 2026 was nothing short of historic; it anchored itself directly into the timeless pages of Argentine turf lore. The reinsman engineered a monumental and unprecedented harvest of five victories in the prestigious series, dominating both the turf and dirt of San Isidro like a seasoned Formula 1 pilot driving a dominant single-seater.

Playing on the parallels of his own name, the jockey seemed to be driving for his own Williams Racing team over the weekend. Donning his metaphorical high-speed racing suit, he managed his mounts' energy with the icy coolness of a pit-lane strategist and accelerated down the home straight to leave his rivals without answers.

He fell just short of crowning the masterpiece in the G1 Gran Premio Estrellas Classic, where Need You Tonight(Hat Ninja) had to settle for third behind the surprising victor Neat Colt (Treasure Beach), but the legendary feat had already been achieved. Five Estrellas trophies in a mere 48 hours represents a milestone that will take years to witness again.

A Friday of Pure Speed

Pereyra's symphony began with absolute mastery on Friday, a day that saw him unleash a whirlwind of victories. His first major impact of the series came in the G1 Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies aboard Unica Forma (Full Mast).

The filly tested the rider's arms, but he knew exactly when to settle her: "She's always in a hurry... We repeated the pattern of her previous race, she comes out ready to fight," the pilot analyzed post-race. "But the owner called me and told me to ride her with confidence, that she was doing great and had improved a bit. She eventually settled nicely and traveled well. When we entered the stretch, I asked for her final gear and she responded. She won brilliantly and left a tremendous impression on me," he concluded calmly.

The surge of victories extended into the festival's alternative dirt frames. In the Estrellas Dirt Junior, William shone in the irons of Vivir En Paz (Fortify), a colt from whom a massive step forward was anticipated. "I am very happy for his owners. 'Pucho' (Daniel Cima, the trainer) told me he was fast. He broke well, and when I saw a few others showing more early speed, I stayed patient. In the end, he won very comfortably. Fortunately, everything is going my way right now—there is health and there is work," he offered with his trademark humility after crossing the wire. His third gem of the opening card arrived in the Estrellas Dirt, where he went gate-to-wire with Victoria Bayern(Santillano) to secure an initial hat-trick that set the stage for an unforgettable weekend.

Saturday of Glory

Saturday's card demanded hot tires and maximum concentration, and the Pereyra stable did not disappoint. The sheer velocity of the five-furlong G1 Gran Premio Estrellas Sprint saw him brilliant in the irons of the flying Le Cornette(Emmanuel). Over a demanding track, William perfectly rationed the early speed of the Stud Chajarí colorbearer to hold on at the wire. "He was traveling very fast, and the track is playing a bit tough, but he dug deep. He is extremely fast and always gives you everything," he acknowledged regarding the noble sprinter, who delivered his fourth victory of the meeting.

The grand finale—the cherry on top of a legendary weekend—materialized on the turf in the G1 Gran Premio Estrellas Distaff, where Indiana Candy (Señor Candy) confirmed she is in the absolute form of her career following her previous triumph in the G1 Copa Diamante. Going wire-to-wire in a masterclass of stamina and class, the Juan Saldivia trainee cruised under the Corrientes-born rider's guidance.

Reflecting deeply after dismounting from the bay mare, an emotional Willy took a moment to ponder the achievement: "I am incredibly happy after experiencing two unbelievable afternoons, five Estrellas wins... I never dreamed of these things, but when I left home years ago, I had a massive hunger for glory. José Sand supported me immensely, and even today we still get together every Thursday. Thanks also to Miguel Vallina. I want to dedicate all of this to them," he confessed, paying tribute to the historic Lanús soccer goalscorer and the veteran trainer, both foundational pillars in the early chapters of his remarkable career.

The Leader Who Returned with Greater Hunger

William Pereyra's phenomenal success at the Estrellas festival is no isolated incident; it is the direct consequence of a brilliant professional present. Since returning to domestic tracks after a brief and enriching stint across the ultra-competitive circuits of the United Arab Emirates, the jockey has simply not stopped winning. His sharp tactical reading of races and relentless professionalism have propelled him into a dream 2026 campaign.

He currently comfortably leads the individual jockey standings at both Palermo and San Isidro, South America's two most demanding racing jurisdictions, and sits in a highly competitive second place in the national sire-and-jockey victory standings, tracking just behind the formidable Gonzalo Borda.

With last weekend's achievements, Pereyra has already amassed five G1 victories this season, cementing his status as the rider of the moment. Team William engaged first gear, shifted seamlessly through the straight, and crossed the Estrellas finish line with an irreversible advantage. The championship of consistency belongs, definitively, to him.
