LA PLATA.- After his decisive victory in the Clásico Polla de Potrillos (G3)Winston will return to La Plata on Tuesday looking to maintain his leadership among his generation. The lone remaining aspirant to the Triple Crown, the son of Forge looms as the favorite in the Clásico Jockey Club de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (G3, 2000m, dirt), second leg of the series, where he will stretch out from the mile and face 10 rivals.

Trained by Juan Saldivia—fresh off an unforgettable weekend after sending out Cálida Sonrisa (Cosmic Trigger) to win the Selección (G1)—and with Jorge Peralta back in the irons, the gray colt had previously taken the Clásico Isidoro Aramburu (G3), where he held off Sono Perfetto (Tetaze) by half a length. That rival, eager for revenge, resurfaces once more.

Skipping the Polla, Sono Perfetto, racing for Stud El Cárcara, instead targeted the Clásico José Pedro Ramírez (G3)and got the job done by a length over Un Infierno (Dabster), who had earlier finished third, beaten six lengths by Winston in the first crown, and figures once again among the main contenders.

Typically a frontrunner, Sono Perfetto will look for Lautaro Balmaceda to control the pace, though it hardly appears an easy task. Breaking from the outside post, Peralta will need to ensure Winston doesn’t allow his rival too much freedom up front, with the first turn looming immediately.

Runner-up in the Polla, Regalo del Sol (E Dubai) returned to the allowance ranks three weeks ago and looked sharp in a three-length score, building momentum into this fresh challenge, where he stands as another major threat.

Connections of Nassau (Forge) were left disappointed with his fifth in the Ramírez, but hope that the step up in trip will play to his strengths and allow him to rebound to expectations.

Also in the line-up are Purple Nich (Nicholas), Társico Sam (Társico), Amuni (Tetaze), Piñazo (John F Kennedy), First to Run (Daniel Boone), and Bar de Atenas (Reride), all lining up in search of an upset.
