Daughter of Hit It a Bomb Scores Decisively; Firmamento Homebred Has the Pedigree to Dream Bigger

The upward trajectory of Catch the Bomb's career found another solid step forward Wednesday at San Isidro, as the daughter of Hit It a Bomb turned in a dominant effort to capture the featured Handicap Good Passion on a low-profile midweek card.
Going 1400 meters over the auxiliary dirt track, the Stud-Haras Firmamento homebred made good on her strong runner-up finish in the G3 Clásico Joaquín V. Maqueda at La Plata, delivering a polished performance under Martín Vallewhile carrying 55.5 kilos.
Tracking a solid pace set by the consistent Jalimba (Señor Candy)—who clocked splits of 23.82 and 46.90 seconds—Catch the Bomb never lost touch with the leaders. As the field turned for home, Jalimba tried to hug the rail and kick away, but both Kelly Rose (Il Campione)—the heavy favorite under top weight of 58 kilos—and Catch the Bomb quickly surged to challenge, taking over by the 300-meter mark.
From there, it was all Catch the Bomb. Gradually and then decisively, the dark bay filly asserted herself, drawing off with authority through the final furlong to score by four lengths over Kelly Rose, who had no answer late. Another two lengths back came Hi Chasty (Hi Happy) in third, with the rest well strung out. Final time for the race was a solid 1:22.89, with the 1200-meter split posted in 1:10.75.
Trained by the Team Gaitán and saddled by Nicolás Gaitán, Catch the Bomb now owns 4 wins from 15 career starts and has earned more than 20 million pesos. This victory marked a meaningful black-type stepping stone for the filly, whose profile continues to rise with each outing.
The winner is the second foal out of Catch the Cursi (Catcher In the Rye), herself a half-sister to G3 winner Cursi Roy (Roy) and stakes-placed Curiosa Glory (Honour and Glory). Her female family traces to the influential Kalcura (Kaljerry) and the blue hen Mucura (Hot Dust), one of Firmamento’s cornerstone mares and a consistent source of quality performers.
Catch the Bomb was simply too good this time, and with her pedigree, connections, and current form, dreaming of a future stakes victory is far from far-fetched.
