Entregamos el reporte completo de la primera gran cita de 2026 en el césped de San Isidro, donde el camino hacia el Gran Premio Latinoamericano de Monterrico comienza a definirse con un lote de figuras estelares, respetando las negritas solo en los nombres propios:
Finally, there will be 11 participants in the Gran Premio Miguel A. Martínez de Hoz (G1-2000 m, turf), the first top-level race of the season in Argentina, to be held on Saturday, February 7. It will once again serve as one of the races the Jockey Club Argentino considers when nominating its representative for the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1) on April 26 in Monterrico, Peru.
With Forgging (Forge) being the only withdrawal from the original list, the race has attracted several of today's best turf stayers, with The Gladiator's Hat (Hat Ninja) as the main standard-bearer for the upcoming commitment at the Hipódromo de San Isidro.
The bay from Stud-Haras El Angel de Venecia made his breakthrough by winning the Gran Premio Dardo Rocha(G1) in La Plata and confirmed his great form as the top-placed local in the last Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1), where he finished second to the Brazilian champion Obataye (Courtier).
He will have plenty of tough rivals, such as Acento Final (Treasure Beach), who has already won the Jockey Club(G1), General San Martín (G1), and Copa de Oro (G1) grand prizes, and who will seek redemption after a disappointing performance in the aforementioned Pellegrini, where she was one of the central figures.
El Encinal (Il Campione) has just returned to victory here after a fruitless stint in the United States, and will now try to take a step up and remind everyone that he is none other than the winner of the 2023 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini.
Also in the starting gates will be Pecado Original (Global Hunter) and Chelato (Cosmic Trigger), who tied for first place in the aforementioned Botafogo, the prep race for the Martínez de Hoz.
Additionally, the following will be present: Curious Song (Sixties Song), Full Keynote (Full Mast), Hit Colchonero(Hit It a Bomb), Neat Colt (Treasure Beach), the Brazilian Out of the Blue (Drosselmeyer), and Thor Medina(Mootasadir) complete the field.
The Gran Premio Miguel A. Martínez de Hoz will have a prize pool of 100,000,000 pesos, with 50,000,000 going to the winner.
The day at San Isidro will also include the Clásico Juan Shaw (G2-2200 m, turf) for mares 3 years old and up, representing the first major step for the category since December's Gran Premio Copa de Plata (G1).
The balanced group of 10 entries is led by Romana Craf (Mastercraftsman) and Neowise (Agnes Gold), who could face: Bryana (Treasure Beach), Calidostática (Heliostatic), End of Spring (Il Campione), Little Trick (Treasure Beach), Miss Kalima (Seahenge), Miss Talento (Equal Talent), Primera Fila (Equal Stripes), and Pura Diva(Puerto Real).
Confirmations for the Juan Shaw will be accepted until Tuesday at noon, and the final names, along with the race times, will be announced in the afternoon.
