La Plata has canceled the two stakes races scheduled for next week

These are the Mariano Moreno and the Diego M. Argüello; at Palermo, the Clásico Farnesio, scheduled for Friday, stands out

LA PLATA—The racetrack in this city was set to enjoy a pair of stakes races in its upcoming cards. However, following Monday's forfeits, both the Mariano Moreno (1200m) and the Diego M. Argüello (1000m) were annulled.

The former for all horses 3 years old and up and the latter for fillies and mares 3 years old and up—both under weight-for-age conditions—were scheduled for Thursday the 26th, a day that will now feature only 11 conditional races.

The practice of canceling stakes in the "City of Diagonals" is nothing new; quite the opposite. It is a custom adopted several years ago that persists regardless of the authorities in charge. It is much simpler to keep pressing the delete button than to find a solution for something that repeats itself over and over again.

Regarding the meeting programmed for March 24th, everything will revolve around the Especial Jockey Club de Mendoza (1400m, dirt), for all horses 4 years old and up with three or more victories. Although it suffered several withdrawals (12), it remained on the schedule with eight ratified runners.

Bombay Lake (Anjiz Lake, 54), Colour Vision (Univisión, 54), Curioso Azteca (Empire Aztec, 54), Emmspacial Boy (Emmanuel, 58), Notable Island (Lizard Island, 54), Seek Wave (Seek Again, 56), Talento Emergente(Hurricane Cat, 56), and Yak Sport (Glory Seattle, 56) were the survivors.

Clásico Farnesio at Palermo

Over at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, entries opened for Friday the 20th and Monday the 23rd, with the best race of the period arriving on the first of those dates.

It is the Clásico Farnesio (1400m, turf), for fillies and mares 3 years old and up under weight-for-age conditions, with nine probable participants: Adi Shakti (Lucullan), Elenika (Winning Prize), Filippiada (Il Mercato), Forti Leaf(Fortify), Frape (Vástago Salvaje), Look Happy (Hi Happy), Mercata Mayor (Il Mercato), Moon's Destiny(Orpen), and Phila Street (Endorsement).
