Stud Las Monjitas made a final bid of 80,000 dollars for the bay last Saturday, under the hammer of Sales

The Great Selection Sale of Haras El Paraíso is a landmark of every season. Dominating the breeders' statistics in recent years, the farm owned by Victoria Pueyrredón and Pablo Duggan enjoyed another edition of its traditional gathering last Saturday, where expectations were met with solid prices—within a rather complicated general landscape, of course—under the organization of Sales.

As has happened in several auctions throughout the season, Stud Las Monjitas once again secured the top price, this time paying 80,000 dollars for Cat Café, a son of the established Strategos born in September.

The bay, which carried catalog number 3, is out of Ansia Eterna (Angiolo), making him a half-brother to El Fortín (Il Campione), the latest winner of the Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1), from an old family that includes other references such as the G3 winner Kirenia (Ahmad) or the stakes winner El Vivaracho (El Curaca).

The second highest mark of the sale went to El Arrabal (Il Campione), who led the lot and was acquired for 72,000 dollars by Stud Toroquemero. He is the third foal out of Angelain (Angiolo), a winner of two races during her track career and herself a daughter of the stakes winner Semanera (Sebi Halo), from the same maternal line as the champion Saldeable (New Dandy) and G1 winners Saludable Nov (Romanov), Saleroso Fitz (Fitzcarraldo), and Kali Baby(Aptitude).

Finally, the podium of top prices was completed by Eternal Prospect, another son of Il Campione, who entered the ring as lot 38. The bidding reached 70,000, surprising several attendees. Although he does not yet have winning siblings, his dam is Pop Girl (Archipenko), a sister to the G3 winner in Chile El Mentalista (Tourist), from the family of Payant(Cipayo).

The auction featured the first yearlings by the champion El Musical (Il Campione), whose top price was set by Río Diamante, out of the G3 winner Sinalina (Sebi Halo) and a half-brother to Campo Verde (Strategos) and El Sinsacate(Il Campione), among others. In his case, Juan Saldivia, acting on commission, took him with a final bid of US$ 65,000.

The 80 products offered (only one was not presented) reached a total revenue of 2,301,500 dollars, with an average of 28,768 and a median of 27,450.
