What had been a steadily rising campaign turned into full consolidation this Thursday, courtesy of a commanding victory by the daughter of Il Campione in the Clásico Manuel F. y Emilio Gnecco (G3-1,600 m, normal dirt), the feature event of the card.

Juan Cruz Villagra, aboard the massive favorite -she paid $1.60-, found a ideal ally in La Chaperona (Furious Key), who set out at 200 kilometers per hour and opened up several lengths in front.

The jockey waited patiently behind and, when the pacesetter collapsed halfway through the turn, she took the lead effortlessly on her own. Moving with a stride that foreshadowed what ultimately happened, she straightened into the home stretch, where Guadilú (Señor Candy) tried to challenge her, without success.

End of Spring boasts a top-tier pedigree, being a half-sister to triple champion Charm (Strategos) and a full sister to the very useful runner Emergent (Il Campione), winner of a couple of handicaps and placed in G2 events.
