The two colts and the filly broke their maidens going six furlongs on turf, each securing the first win of their career

Two-year-olds took center stage Sunday at Hipódromo de San Isidro, delivering promising performances over a rain-softened turf course as they began to shape their paths toward upcoming stakes engagements.
Contested at six furlongs, the colts were split between the two divisions of the Premio Hunky, while the fillies faced off in the Premio Maruco Plus, with each race producing a uniquely thrilling finish.
Engualichao was the first to make his mark, securing a meaningful victory for Stud Haras El Ángel de Venecia. The colt became the first winner for Roman Joy (Fortify), the 2020 G1 Gran Premio Jockey Club hero, who now has his first crop hitting the track with considerable promise. Trained by Carlos D. Etchechoury and piloted by Eduardo Ortega Pavón, the dark bay stayed close throughout before taking over in the stretch and holding off Simpático Boy(Starry Boy) by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:13.27. Bred by Haras Cortines, he is out of La Curandera (Manipulator).
The second division went to debutant Temazcal, who gave another boost to the strong start of freshman sire Gouverneur Morris (Constitution), now represented by five winners. Carrying the colors of Stud Coalnegu, Temazcal launched his rally from midpack under Kevin Banegas, reeling in Pride and Love (Treasure Beach) and favored Un Infierno(Dabster) late to win by a neck and a head, respectively. Clocking in at 1:12.83, the chestnut colt is trained by Luis A. Sánchez and was bred by Haras La Nora. He is out of New Index (Luhuk).
The fastest performance of the day came from the lone filly, Orphila (Daniel Boone), who rebounded from a promising debut to dominate the Premio Maruco Plus. Owned and bred by Stud-Haras Santa María de Araras, the bay filly swept past rivals on the inside under a confident ride from Kevin Banegas, powering clear to score by five lengths in 1:12.73. Out of Originalidad (Pure Prize), Orphila is trained by Nicolás Martín Ferro, who also conditions runner-up Mi Gran Chica (Seahenge).
