Flavie and Shericka Set for Rematch, with Jin Jin Lurking

The 2000 meters of La Plata's Snow Cat will test seasoned and promising fillies alike, in what shapes up to be a closely contested clash

LA PLATA.- Tuesday’s stakes doubleheader at La Plata kicks off with the Clásico Snow Cat, a 2100-meter test for fillies and mares aged three and up under weight-for-age conditions.

As usual, Flavie (Seahenge) will make the trip from San Isidro’s Campo 2, arriving off a solid runner-up finish behind the progressive The Gladiator’s Hat (Hat Ninja) in the Handicap Jorge H. Iglesias up north.

A multiple graded stakes-placed runner, Flavie had previously finished third behind Herd Immunity (Forge) in the G3 Clásico México, crossing the wire 1 1/2 lengths behind Shericka (Seize), who will reoppose here after impressively stepping into stakes company that day.

A homebred for Haras Alborada, Shericka has done nearly everything right since her debut—aside from a misfire in her second start—and has handled each step up in distance with notable quality, especially for a filly who broke her maiden over just 1100 meters.

Both will face a serious threat in the form of Jin Jin (Full Mast), heroine of last season’s G2 Polla de Potrancas over this same surface. After returning with a fourth in the Clásico Jockey Club del Perú, she improved last out when just 3/4 of a length second to Estrella del Día (Il Campione) in the Clásico Maldivas. The extra distance, however, remains a question mark.

On a slightly lower rung, Beauty de Triomphe (Cima de Triomphe) lacks consistency, but has shown flashes of ability at this level. Stablemate Primera Fila (Equal Stripes) will also make the journey from San Isidro, though she steps up from alternative company.

Rounding out the field are Amiguita Diana (Todo Un Amiguito), Gala Máxima (Galán de Cine), and Sweet Icy(Vástago Salvaje), all of whom will be aiming to snatch at least a placing that could enhance their value as future broodmares.
