The filly and the colt secured solid victories over the 1400 meters on the San Isidro turf

After being dark for more than a week due to the Lollapalooza festival, San Isidro returned this Wednesday with a weekend-style card that featured several interesting allowance races alongside the Clásico Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo (L).
In the 2023 crop division, fillies and colts saw action over 1400 meters on the turf, looking ahead to the upcoming Clásico Eliseo Ramírez (G2) and Clásico Raúl y Raúl E. Chevalier (G2)—the first major steps in the Jockey Club Argentino’s select process on the grass.
The action kicked off with the fillies in the Premio Quiz Kid, where Full Question followed up on a promising debut—having finished a neck second to Tardona (Gidu)—to secure a comfortable victory. The win provided another juvenile point for Haras Gran Muñeca, her birthplace and the stable whose colors she defends.
Trained by Diego Peña (though saddled by Rogelio Alvis) and ridden by Brian Enrique, the filly closely tracked the pacesetting debutante Celine Style (Equal Stripes) before beginning to press her through the far turn.
They raced on even terms through the first half of the stretch until the 200-meter mark, where the winner drew off to finish 3 1/2 lengths clear, stopping the clock in 1m22s2/100. Favorite Copernicana (Storm Embrujado) showed her greenness and finished third, another 4 lengths back.
Jockey William Pereyra and trainer Juan Saldivia were left frustrated with that result, but they quickly found redemption in the Premio Champion Star for the colts, where Señor Miguel (Señor Candy) justified his heavy favoritism.
The Stud Don Valentino runner prevailed from gate to wire, safely holding off a massive late surge from The Golden Disk (Made You Look), who fell just short of giving the Gran Muñeca team a brilliant double.
Bred in partnership by Haras San Lorenzo de Areco and Enrique Lavallol, Señor Miguel posted a final time of 1m21s72/100, bettering Full Question's mark by two-fifths of a second.
Both winners are expected to return in the Ramírez and the Chevalier, carrying dreams of reaching the top level.
