LA PLATA.-Entries were taken this Friday for the upcoming two race days at Hipódromo de La Plata, with one race standing out clearly on the calendar. That would be the Clásico 25 de Mayo de 1810 (G2), the historic one-mile contest for 3-year-olds and up.

Despite carrying a meager purse of just ARS 7,220,000 to the winner—a figure that borders on embarrassing—the race is scheduled for Tuesday, the 27th of the month, and could draw as many as 15 starters. Among the most notable names on the list are Don Rocky (Equal Stripes), El Patio (Il Campione), Es Aristocrático (Angiolo), Monsieur Delon (Il Campione), Paraná Miní (Winning Prize), Storm Sound (Hi Happy) and Super Number (Super Saver).

They could be joined by Best Portal (Portal del Alto), Black Stripes (Equal Stripes), Garufa Mask (Mask), Notable Island (Lizard Island), Preludio Lento (Daddy Long Legs), Rodo (Flowing Rye), Surfing Boy (Hurricane Cat) and Fancy Model (Lizard Island).

The same program also includes the Clásico Federico Plowes—a six-furlong dirt sprint for fillies and mares three and up under allowance conditions—with eight potential runners: Bayonne (Puerto Escondido), Eslovena (Il Campione), Flor de Vista (Orpengamio), Gurisa Mask (Mask), High Rimout (Remote), Tac-Tac (Manipulator), Una Alma de Loca(Vástago Salvaje) and Creme de Cassis (Sidney's Candy).

On the downside, the Clásico Bethysmal, a six-furlong dirt race for 2-year-old fillies, was canceled after drawing just four entries.

Looking ahead to Thursday, May 29, the main event will be the Clásico Sipan Dagh (2000m, dirt), a weight-for-age contest for older horses, supported by the Handicap Haras de La Pomme (1600m, dirt), for mares four and up with at least three career wins.

Out of 13 entries in the Sipan DaghLook Portal (Portal del Alto) appears to be the one to beat.
