The historic sire will stand at a private fee, while McKinzie remains at $50,000. The 2023 Breeders' Cup Classic winner will make his stallion debut at $17,500, and Locked will enter stud at $35,000

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— Gainesway has announced its stallion roster fees for the 2027 breeding season, featuring a blend of established sires, emerging young talents, and high-profile new additions set to capture breeders' interest.

The Kentucky operation will once again be anchored by flagship sire Tapit, who will stand for a private fee. Alongside him, McKinzie (Street Sense) will remain at $50,000, while White Abarrio (Race Day), one of next year's most captivating newcomers, will launch his stallion career at a fee of $17,500.

Despite the march of time, Tapit continues to exert extraordinary influence over the sport. The son of Pulpit stands as the leading active sire in North America by grade 1 winners, with 35 to his name, while also topping the ranks by graded stakes winners with 107.

His progeny have amassed over $227 million in purse earnings, while his impact as a broodmare sire keeps expanding. He led that ranking from 2023 through 2025 and remains atop the standings during 2026.

Additionally, his yearlings ranked among the top seven averages for all sires at the Keeneland September Sale.

White Abarrio, a marquee addition

The arrival of White Abarrio represents one of the major highlights of the roster. A grandson of Tapit, the grey stallion will retire with over $8.5 million in earnings and four G1 victories.

His race record includes triumphs in the Florida Derby (G1), the Whitney Stakes (G1)—where he drew off by 6 1/4 lengths over Cody's Wish (Curlin)—and the 2023 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1).

He also captured the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1), and in 2026 added the Oaklawn Handicap (G2) to his record, defeating standout horses such as Sovereignty (Into Mischief) and Journalism (Curlin).

In that performance, he earned a 111 Beyer Speed Figure, another testament to the brilliance and speed that defined his campaign.

McKinzie and Locked, strong commitments

McKinzie (Street Sense) has solidified his rank among the leading young sires following the accomplishments of his freshman crop, which has already produced four G1 winners: Chancer McPatrick, Scottish Lassie, Baeza, and Hymn, the latter taking the 2026 Forego Stakes (G1).

His progeny fetched up to $700,000 at the Keeneland September Sale, supporting the farm's decision to maintain his fee at $50,000.

Meanwhile, Locked (Gun Runner) will stand at $35,000 in his second season at stud, after covering 226 mares in 2026.

A winner of the Breeders' Futurity (G1) at age two, the Cigar Mile (G2) at three, and the Santa Anita Handicap(G1) at four—where he powered to an 8 1/2-length victory—Locked accumulated over $1.9 million in career earnings.

Another notable name is Olympiad (Speightstown), currently ranking among North America's top four freshman sires by progeny earnings. His fee will be announced following the Breeders' Cup, where he could be represented by Citrus Springs and Roscoe Goose.

Gainesway is also anticipating the upcoming November sales, which will showcase the first foals of several young roster stallions.

Muth (Good Magic), a G1 winner at ages two and three, will stand for $25,000. Over his first two seasons, he was bred to 314 mares.

Seize the Grey (Arrogate), winner of the Preakness Stakes (G1), will stand at $20,000. His first weanlings have already commanded sales of $90,000 and $80,000.

Charge It (Tapit), remembered for his 23-length runaway victory in the Dwyer Stakes (G3), will be offered at $10,000 after breeding 348 mares across his initial two seasons.

Tapit Trice, also by Tapit and winner of the Blue Grass Stakes (G1), will stand for $7,500.

Among the sires with runners already on the track, Drain the Clock (Maclean's Music) will carry a $10,000 fee. His first crop produced stakes winner Drain The Shot, while one of his 2-year-olds realized $1.1 million at the Ocala juvenile sales.

Karakontie retains his appeal

One of the best value-to-performance sires on the market remains Karakontie (Bernstein), who will stand for $15,000.

The Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) winner continues to distinguish himself among North American turf sires, boasting a winners-to-runners ratio exceeding 50 percent during 2026.

Sire of champion She Feels Pretty, his top current runners also include Agate, winner of the Bourbon Stakes (G2) and a contender for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).

Finally, Raging Bull (Dark Angel) will be offered at $7,500, buoyed by the accomplishments of Proletariat, winner of the Del Mar Derby (G2), Jes See Me, and Jutland.

Led by Tapit as the historic flagship, with McKinzie cementing his position among top young sires and White Abarrio bolstering the lineup, Gainesway enters 2027 with a comprehensive roster featuring fees ranging from $7,500 up to the private fee for its cornerstone stallion.
