The daughter of Made You Look put four consecutive defeats behind her and recaptured her best form with a commanding 6-length victory in the Clásico Empiric over 1400 meters
Gota Clara Sos needed a performance like this. Not merely a return to the winner's circle—something that had eluded her over her previous four outings—but to achieve it with enough authority to recapture the stature of the filly who had kicked off her career with four consecutive victories and appeared destined for a top spot within her generation.
The reunion took place this Saturday in the Clásico Empiric, over 1400 meters on the San Isidro turf, where the defender of Stud Pauli made her superior track record count against her rivals to forge a win as decisive as it was effortless. She hit the wire 6 lengths ahead of La Magia Existe (Backyard Heaven), a margin that could have been even wider had jockey Gonzalo Borda asked her for full effort through the line.
The daughter of Made You Look did not arrive without warning. Her runner-up finish behind La Santa Cándida (Le Blues) in the Clásico Marina Lezcano had served as a positive signal, a hint that she was beginning to put behind her the spell of inconsistency that followed her flawless start. This time, facing a field with far less mileage and credentials, she capitalized on all the class she had displayed during her opening months on the track.
Borda showed no urgency from the break. While Se Cruzan (Manipulator) and Kona Ice (Treasure Beach) disputed the early pace, Gota Clara Sos settled comfortably in third, traveling in hand and biding her time before making her move. The contest began to unravel the moment they turned for home, as the favorite ranged up alongside the leaders without her rider needing to call for a true effort.
Passing the 300-meter pole, Gota Clara Sos shook off Kona Ice for good, and from then on, it became a mere showcase of her expanding lead. She changed gears, drew off with ease, and coasted across the wire virtually wrapped up, with Borda simply hands and heels over the final strides.
La Magia Existe, whose sole prior start had been a winning debut, finished second six lengths back, never posing a threat to the winner's supremacy. The clock stopped at 1m22s79/100, a solid time given the track was holding moisture and that Gota Clara Sos covered much of the stretch without being fully extended.
Poker Star (Cosmic Trigger), another filly entering the Empiric undefeated, rounded out the trifecta ahead of Kona Ice, who found the final furlongs demanding.
The 1400 meters appear to suit her to a tee. Over this exact distance she had secured one of the signature victories of her career in the Clásico Ramírez (G2), and here she rediscovered her most devastating form. Speed, tractability behind the pace, and a decisive turn of foot were once again her defining assets.
Bred by Haras Gran Muñeca, Gota Clara Sos is conditioned by Marcelo Sueldo, who exercised the necessary patience to guide her through the dry spell of her campaign and now finds himself back with a top-class filly. Following four initial victories and four consecutive losses, the Empiric signaled the start of a fresh chapter.
Beyond the level of opposition she faced, the manner of the victory sent a clear message. Gota Clara Sos won again and, above all, looked very much like that filly who once did not know what it meant to lose. Getting back on the right track is always a step in the right direction...
