With the May Sale Rescheduled and Favorable Weather, the Farm Opens Its Gates for a Day of Top-Class Horses, Live Music, and a Unique Vibe

Reinventing the turf isn’t easy—and transforming age-old traditions into something refreshingly modern is even harder. But at Haras Los Turfistas, that’s exactly what they’ve set out to do. For the past few years, the farm has been steadily building its sales into full-fledged events—where horses, music, and friends blend into a unique kind of racing celebration.
Led by José Aladro, with the unwavering support of his nephew Benjamín, Los Turfistas have created gatherings people don’t want to miss. This Saturday, they’ll add another chapter with the rescheduled Venta de Mayo, originally postponed due to a storm that brought historic flooding to San Antonio de Areco and surrounding areas.
With Tres Jotas as a special guest and a perfect weather forecast in sight, Los Turfistas will once again open their gates for a truly different kind of auction—set against a Tattersall that’s already part of the farm’s character, combining top-class horses, exceptional hospitality, and a festive atmosphere that carries on with music, dancing, and plenty of smiles.
Organized by Racehorse, the firm run by Sebastián and Lucila Di Nucci, the festivities will kick off at 1:00 p.m. with lunch and a showing of the yearlings, followed by the sale around 2:30 p.m.
Coming off recent successes—including Wednesday’s win by Operístico (Daddy Long Legs) in the Handicap Full Sail at San Isidro—the auction will feature a catalog of 27 colts and fillies. The lineup includes progeny by standout sires such as Il Campione (Scat Daddy), Daddy Long Legs (Scat Daddy), Le Blues (Roman Ruler), Angiolo (Grand Reward), Cityscape (Selkirk), Seahenge (Scat Daddy), Lucullan (Hard Spun), Imperador (Treasure Beach), and Reride (Candy Ride).
The catalog itself stands out, too—thanks to the creative touch of Benja, who adds a personal flair by explaining the meaning behind each name, making the reading experience a delight.
On the pedigree and conformation side, there’s no shortage of head-turners. Among them is Patience Escalier (Il Campione–Evartina, by Equal Stripes), a half-sibling to stakes-placed Il Migliore and Mary Camille, from the storied “E” family.
Then there’s Penita Linda, a filly born Sept. 15 from the first crop of dual G1 winner Imperador (Treasure Beach)out of Pulposa Holiday (Harlan’s Holiday)—making her a half-sister to Pulp Fiction (Daddy Long Legs), the 2024 G1 Polla de Potrancas heroine at Palermo.
Also among the featured offerings is Misión de Honor (Daddy Long Legs–My Virtue, by Mutakddim), bred on the same cross as G2 winner Mezzopiano, a three-time stakes victor and close runner-up to champion El Kódigo in the G1 Gran Premio República Argentina.
Other highlights include Jardín en Arles (Angiolo), a full brother to top sprinter Elcisa; Vicio (Daddy Long Legs), a half to Joy Velika (Fortify), winner of La Plata’s G2 Polla de Potrancas; and Saintes Maries (Reride), a half-sibling to standout speedster La Meninha (Le Blues).
All horses will be offered in eight installments via post-dated checks, with prices fixed in pesos based on the exchange rate at the time of sale.
Once again, Los Turfistas are ready to turn a horse auction into something more—a celebration of racing, tradition, and everything that makes the sport worth gathering around.
