El hijo de Fortify atrapó en los últimos tramos al favorito El Kodigo, con el peruano Don Feres cargando fuertísimo por fuera para ser tercero con algunos tropiezos

Aquello de que el deporte de las carreras de caballos es el más maravilloso de todos, no es cuento. ¿Dónde pueden mezclarse a la perfección la belleza, el atleticismo, la emoción, la alegría, la tristeza, los aplausos y el arte? Solamente en la pista de un hipódromo.
La carrera más importante del año en la Argentina y en Sudamérica tuvo el marco perfecto, mucha presencia internacional (de caballos y de jinetes) y un cierre fantástico, como para llegar al combo completo y darle un aprobado, pese a la austeridad reinante y a la escasísima publicidad que se le dio.
Devolvió lo de siempre, calidad, pasión y gloria; grandes caballos luchando por el trofeo más importante de todos, con el dato nada menor de por medio que, por primera vez, sus acciones se siguieron desde buena parte del mundo por haber formado parte del World Pool, el sistema de apuestas que maneja el Hong Kong Jockey Club. El Pellegrini jugó en primera, en ese sentido.
El marco perfecto tuvo en la pista la mejor devolución por parte de los protagonistas, pues se esperaba un show como el que finalmente se dio. Fue vibrante de principio a fin y, en un juego de tácticas y estrategias obligadas por las circunstancias, Intense for Me encontró el camino al final del arco iris.
Con 20 caballos en la pista, no había punteros, y fue finalmente Grezzo (Hi Happy) el que asumió la delantera para imponer un ritmo moderado. Al mismo tiempo, El Kodigo (Equal Stripes) tenía una buena partida desde la puerta 20 y encontraba una interesante colocación, a la par del peruano Don Feres y con Intense for Me detrás, corriéndose la carrera entre ellos, como si supieran que, a la hora de la verdad, la moneda no saldría de esos nombres.
En el codo empezaron los movimientos, y Don Feres hizo algo similar a lo que le sucedió en el Latino 2023, perdiendo algunas posiciones y complicándose por la parte interna, con El Kodigo avanzando abierto e Intense for Me a sus patas.
Ya en el derecho, Grezzo resistió por unos pocos metros antes de sucumbir ante el avance de Crazy Talent (Equal Talent), El Kodigo -que tuvo un muy pequeño tropiezo antes- e Intense for Me, que empezaron una pelea por la victoria que solo se terminaría en la misma meta.
Caballo de notable cambio de ritmo, cuando Intense for Me no pudo quebrar en el envión a El Kodigo, dio la sensación de que el favorito se quedaría con la copa, pero insistió el alazán de Toroquemero, que en el disco logró sacarle medio pescuezo a su valiente rival.
Ambos vieron volar un fantasma blanco por el centro, pues cuando Don Feres encontró cancha limpia fue una tromba, tanto, que, con más suerte, bien pudo haberse llevado la victoria. Su tercer lugar al pescuezo del escolta fue brillante y ratifica lo que ya se sabía: que es un gran caballo. Hay grandes posibilidades que quede en Argentina, y es un notición.
A 1 cuerpo, Crazy Talent fue otro de los que confirmaron su talento, con el uruguayo Master of Puppets (Put It Back) finalizando en un meritorio quinto lugar y el brasileño Cold Heart (Alpha) también descontando de atropellada para sellar un marcador internacional y sin potrillos, pues el mejor colocado fue Grezzo, octavo.
Las palmas fueron para Intense for Me y ya se dijo que lo de Don Feres fue también importante, pero al hablar de El Kodigo los adjetivos son enormes, para hacerle un monumento. Le tocó perder, en algo nada menor, pero lo hizo dándolo todo y ratificando su condición de caballo diferente.
Pasó el Pellegrini 2024 e Intense for Me le dio la tercera victoria en la carrera a Martín Valle y la primera al joven entrenador Nicolás Martín Ferro, que realizó un trabajo impresionante, convirtiendo un gran millero en un fondista capaz de ganar la carrera más importante de todas. Hacer llegar a la larga caballos que arrancan compitiendo mucho más abajo, se está transformando en una especialidad de la casa para él...
Intense for Me defeated El Kodigo in the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini
Horse racing is the most wonderful sport of all; and is not a fairy tale. Where can beauty, athleticism, emotion, joy, sadness, applause and art be perfectly blended? Only on a racetrack. And if a button is enough to prove it, as if to continue with the phrases, we will have to look again and again the replay of the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1-2400 m, turf) 2024, with Intense for Me (Fortify) beating El Kodigo (Equal Stripes) and the Peruvian Don Feres (Singe the Turf) in a unique picture that will be remembered for a long time, Unleashing the crazy and full of sensations celebration of the young jockey Martín Valle, applauded wildly by the grandstands that understood in an instant that what they had had the chance to live had been wonderful.
The most important race of the year in Argentina and along South America had the perfect setting, a lot of international presence (of horses and jockeys) and a fantastic finish, as to get to the full combo and give it a pass, despite the prevailing austerity and the very little publicity that was given to it.
It returned the same as always, quality, passion and glory; great horses fighting for the most important trophy of all, with the fact that, for the first time, the race was followed from a large part of the world because they were part of the World Pool, the betting system managed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The Pellegrini played the greatest leagues.
The perfect stahe had in the track the best return, since a show like the one that finally took place was expected. It was vibrant from start to finish and, in a game of tactics and strategies forced by the circumstances, Intense for Me found the way to the end of the rainbow.
With 20 horses on the track, there were no front runners, and it was finally Grezzo (Hi Happy) who took the lead to impose a moderate pace. At the same time, El Kodigo (Equal Stripes) had a good start from gate 20 and found an interesting placement, alongside the Peruvian Don Feres and with Intense for Me behind, running the race between them, as if they knew that, at the moment of truth, the coin would not come out of those names.
At the turn the movements began, and Don Feres did something similar to what happened to him in the Latinoamericano of 2023, losing some positions and getting complicated on the inside, with El Kodigo advancing open and Intense for Me at his legs.
On the right, Grezzo resisted for a few meters before succumbing to the advance of Crazy Talent (Equal Talent), El Kodigo - who had a small stumble before - and Intense for Me, who started a fight for the victory that would only end at the finish line.
A horse with a remarkable turn of foot, when Intense for Me could not pass El Kodigo, it seemed that the favorite would take the trophy, but Stud Toroquemero's horse insisted, who managed to take half a neck off his brave rival at the finish line, both saw a white ghost fly through the center of the track, because when Don Feres found a clean line, he was so strong that, with more luck, he could have taken the victory.
His third place, a neck behind El Kodigo, was brilliant and ratifies what was already known: he is a great racehorse. One length behind, Crazy Talent was another of those who confirmed his talent, with the Uruguayan rider Master of Puppets (Put It Back) finishing in a meritorious fifth place and the Brazilian Cold Heart (Alpha) also taking off in sixth, without 3yo in the first positions, as the best placed was Grezzo, who finished eighth.
The cheers were for Intense for Me and it was already said that Don Feres was also important, but when talking about El Kodigo the adjectives are huge, to make him a monument. The Pellegrini 2024 is history and Intense for Me gave the third victory in the race to Martín Valle and the first to the young trainer Nicolás Martín Ferro, who did an impressive job, turning a great miler into a long-distance rider capable of winning the most important race of all.
Making horses reach the long distance that start competing much lower, is becoming a specialty of the house for him…
