Setting the pace from the break, Lacanian Ink, trained by Martín Fernández, captured her second straight Group 2 at San Isidro—this time over heavy turf

Turf route racing at Hipódromo de San Isidro is beginning to settle into rhythm, with the division's leadership slowly taking shape ahead of a grueling second half of the year that will ultimately culminate in the prestigious G1 Gran Premio Copa de Plata.
Sunday’s G2 Clásico Partícula (2000m, heavy turf) provided another step forward in that narrative, as Lacanian Inkcemented her place atop the rankings with a bold, frontrunning performance, blending speed, stamina, grit and class in equal measure to deny the late surge of Romana Craf (Mastercraftsman), who finished a hard-fought second, just a half-head short.
The deep, demanding San Isidro turf—treacherous on its best day—has a way of exposing pretenders. Success under such conditions one start doesn’t always translate to the next. But Lacanian Ink once again rose to the challenge, replicating her previous effort in the G2 Clásico Paseana with authority, though this time needing every ounce of tenacity to hang on late.
With a masterful ride from veteran jockey Gustavo Calvente, the daughter of Fragotero went straight to the front and controlled the tempo comfortably, posting early fractions of :26.46, :51.80 and 1:15.90. Calvente kept her well within herself through the backstretch and early part of the far turn, fending off an attempted move from Garbiñe (Lucullan) as the field turned for home.
As Lacanian Ink cut the corner tightly along the rail and opened up, Romana Craf launched her rally. The margin began to shrink approaching the wire, but the pacesetter refused to yield, prevailing in a thrilling finish. Presencial(Suggestive Boy) checked in a distant third, five lengths adrift, followed by Garbiñe, with Ceniza Pampa (Hat Ninja) bringing up the rear 20 lengths behind.
With Punta Turquesa (Fortify) the only notable absentee, the race went in 2:07.97, with a mile split of 1:41.16, further reinforcing the winner’s affinity for testing going and extended trips.
Bred by Haras El Mallín and racing for Stud Flecha de Plata, Lacanian Ink was saddled by Martín Fernández and now boasts 6 wins from 21 starts, with career earnings approaching ARS 43 million. In addition to the Partícula and Paseana, her résumé includes victory in the Espírita (L), and placings in the G2 Marcos Levalle, G3 Andrés S. Torres, and listed events like the Los Criadores and Otelo A. Orlandi.
The 5-year-old is the first foal out of Chifladura (Hurricane Cat), a half-sister to G1 winner Crazy Plus (Alpha Plus) and multiple stakes winner Bien Loquita (Alpha Plus). Her second dam, Nut Case (Perfect Parade), was G2-placed at 2 and is a half to champion Bosphorus (Logical), undefeated at Palermo and successful in the G2 Guillermo Kemmisand G1 Santiago Luro.
Exported to the U.S., Bosphorus added three wins stateside and placed in the Henry P. Russell H. (L) at Santa Anita and the G3 San Diego H. and G3 Cabrillo H. at Del Mar.
With stamina, form, and a mounting résumé, Lacanian Ink has emerged as the leader of the local turf route division—right where a good mare should be.
