The great moment of Lissette Island found another reason to celebrate long and hard during the entertaining Friday offered by the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, as she claimed the Clásico General Arenales(G3-1000 m, normal sand), where she ratified her place among the best sprinters of today.

After successfully developing the first part of her campaign in turn races, the daughter of Lizard Island found the ideal stage to reach the zenith of her form on the straight of Avenida del Libertador and Dorrego. She had made it clear when she won the Clásico General Güemes (G3) and also on the occasion of her second-place finish behind Enjoy Dancing(Hi Happy) in the Clásico General Francisco B. Bosch (G3), a rival she has now taken ample revenge upon, leaving her in fifth.

With Iván Monasterolo in the irons, the defender of Stud El Káiser was a blue-chip prospect from the start, closely following the pace of the leader La Mykonos (Mask) with an easy stride, overtaking her mid-race and pulling away with absolute ease from the 300-meter mark to the wire.

In the end, Lissette Island finished crossing the finish line with a 3-length advantage over Santita Candy (Señor Candy), whose debut at the graded level could not have been more auspicious. Another 1 1/2 lengths back, Bichita de Luz (Fragotero) secured a very good third place, returning to the kilometer after a long time.

What became of the favorite Go Clari Go (Strategos)? The grey had a performance to forget, as she never managed to emerge from the rear group, ultimately closing the field 13 1/2 lengths behind the winner.

Bred by Haras La Fortaleza and presented by Germán Knuttsen, Lissette Island now boasts a 50 percent effectiveness rate, with 6 victories in 12 starts—3 at the stakes level—and earnings totaling 48,532,750 pesos.

The bay remains on a steady path among the most prominent sprinters in the country, a field where she can continue to gather joys from here on out, as the calendar offers several options without the need to clash with the males.
