LA PLATA.- With just under a month to go until the next running of the Gran Premio Dardo Rocha (G1), the older stayers will face their final local prep for the season’s premier race this Tuesday in the Clásico Organización Sudamericana de Fomento del Pura Sangre de Carrera (G3), contested over 2200 meters.

Riding a hot streak and currently dominating his division, Look Portal (Portal del Alto) faces his toughest test yet, and if he passes it, he will head into November 19 as one of the leading contenders.

Representing Stud Cachagua, he comes off a series of strong performances in the Federación Argentina de Jockey Clubes e HipódromosJockey Club de Córdoba, and Stud Book Argentino (L), consistently demonstrating his remarkable stamina and ability to maintain a strong gallop.

He will have plenty of obstacles in his path, including Davalos (Hi Happy), who made headlines at Palermo by defeating Valle Barún (Vástago Salvaje) by 2½ lengths in the Clásico Italia (G3), marking a significant step up in class. A frontrunner from the start despite a tricky draw, Davalos will be untested at El Bosque, which adds an extra layer of uncertainty.

One of 2024’s standout 3-year-olds, Mannarino (Cosmic Trigger), winner of the Clásico Martínez (G3), struggled in his comeback but then captured an eye-catching conditional victory, suggesting he could easily return to his previous form.

Carlos D. Etchechoury and San Benito will rely on veteran Don Champagne (Long Island Sound), who finished a distant third to Time to Think (Seahenge) in the Clásico Yatasto (G2) over heavy turf at San Isidro, while Long Kick (Long Island Sound) is highly regarded and could use this race as a springboard to the next level.

Veteran El Darwin (Il Campione) will spice up the pace, while Cornwall (Remote), who was narrowly beaten by a head by Don Martir (Il Campione), has the potential to seize the race without warning.

This edition of the Clásico OSAF (G3) shapes up as a compelling and highly competitive prep for the Dardo Rocha, with multiple contenders capable of influencing the outcome.
