MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (Special for Turf Diario).— Hipódromo Nacional de Maroñas played host to a magnificent Sunday of racing, where three of the sport's current local standard-bearers delivered brilliant performances in a series of historic stakes features.

Fresh off his commanding victory in the 2,000-meter Campeones Classic, Sí Señor (Señor Candy) returned to his preferred mile domain to execute an absolute blowout in the Clásico Asociación Uruguaya de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3). In doing so, the star miler vindicated the widespread industry consensus: he is currently the absolute pound-for-pound king of Uruguayan racing.

Meanwhile, the staying division witnessed Native Extreme (Emcee) confirm his elite staying credentials with a dominant score in the Clásico Las Piedras (L), while Guitarrera (Mestre Gosik) accomplished the exact same feat among the fillies and mares, asserting her status as the clear divisional number one over demanding routes in the Clásico Agraciada (G3).

Avenging his narrow defeat to the top-class three-year-old Touch of Destiny (Midshipman) in this very race twelve months ago, Sí Señor was utterly implacable. Ridden patiently from off the pace by jockey Vagner Leal, the Stud Los Dos representative found a clear seam at the top of the stretch and powered home to win by an authoritative 4 1/2 lengths over Tadow Star (Midshipman), with Nuestro Sueño (Leopard) finishing a neck back in third. The final time stopped in 1m37s50/100 over a fast track.

Bred by Haras La Concordia and conditioned by trainer Jorge Rey, Sí Señor extended his outstanding career record to 12 victories from 22 lifetime starts, with even loftier targets now on the horizon.

Shortly after, Native Extreme—the reigning hero of the prestigious Gran Premio José Pedro Ramírez (G1)—showcased his incredible tactical versatility to claim the Clásico Las Piedras. Returning to the dirt track following a successful turf campaign that included a triumph in the Clásico Invasor, the Stud Los Mareados colorbearer turned the marathon event into a public workout.

Patiently handled by rider José da Silva, the Jorge Rey trainee sat last until the home straight, where he loomed up effortlessly, took command, and quickly opened up to hit the wire with a structural 7-length margin over the pacesetting Ave Royale (Avenue Royale).

Drama was also non-existent in the Clásico Agraciada, where Guitarrera made everything look simple to secure her third consecutive black-type triumph, building upon her previous high-profile scores in the Gran Premio OSAF at Las Piedras and the Campeones Distaff. Piloted by Pablo Rodríguez for trainer Pablo Duarte, the dominant mare crossed the wire 2 1/2 lengths clear of a chasing Nostalgia de Gaita (El Abanderado).
