Minor stakes action offers something for everyone in the upcoming fixtures at the major tracks
In Palermo, the Clásico Cooperativa de Criadores (L) and the Handicap New Dandy will take center stage, while San Isidro counters with the Clásico Domingo F. Sarmiento (L) and the Handicap Remigio González Moreno
Everything was set this Tuesday for the upcoming meetings at Palermo and San Isidro, which will feature no top-tier fixtures.
The downtown venue will only race on Monday the 21st, hosting the Clásico Asociación Cooperativa de Criadores de SPC Ltda. (L-1400m) and the Handicap New Dandy (1600m), both on the turf. The former is open to 3-year-old fillies and the latter to 4-year-olds and up, both contested under set weights and penalties.
In the Cooperativa de Criadores, 8 fillies were confirmed: Embozada Rim (Remote), Sueña Hit (Hit It a Bomb), Mombasa (Have At It), Autoestima (Angiolo), Long Frost (Long Island Sound), Antolina (Remote), Salema (Il Mercato), and Puesta a Punto (Roman Joy).
Meanwhile, the Handicap New Dandy is headlined by G1 winner What a Man (Mastercraftsman), who will face 6 rivals: Grand Canyon (Long Island Sound), Magistral Boy (Daniel Boone), El Gazpacho (Bodemeister), Jardín Secreto (Endorsement), Aroma Rim (Remote), and Vampiro Zen (Zensational).
Over at San Isidro, racing will take place across 3 days, kicking off on Friday the 18th, continuing on Wednesday the 23rd, and wrapping up the stretch on Thursday the 24th.
On the opening card, the road toward the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) will hit a stepping stone with the Clásico Domingo Faustino Sarmiento (L), a handicap over 2000 meters on the turf for 4-year-olds and up.
Only 7 runners were confirmed, with Viejo Varieté (Qué Vida Buena) assigned top weight of 57 1/2 kilos. His opponents will be: Silver Ya (Winning Prize, 51 1/2), Santo Rey (Santillano, 54), Playa Chopera (Treasure Beach, 51), Blue Dollar (Orpen, 55 1/2), Capricho de Mar (Treasure Beach, 52 1/2), and Hi Dolfi (Hi Happy, 51 1/2).
On Wednesday the 23rd, action will center around the Clásico Remigio González Moreno (1200m, dirt), for 3-year-olds, where the only 5 confirmed entries were: Vivir En Paz (Fortify), Shiawase (Lucullan), Mister Market (Market Rally), Joy Conquistador (Roman Joy), and El Brigadier (Mask).
Finally, scheduled for Thursday the 24th is the Handicap Mesa Alvear (1300m, dirt), for 4-year-olds and up, where Tiffony Mo (El Moisés) tops the weights at 61 kilos, half a kilo above Garufa Mask (Mask).
Joining them could be: Quemetomo (Equal Talent, 55 1/2), Glorioso Rim (Remote, 54 1/2), Don Pichi (Qué Vida Buena, 57), and El Cobra Kai (Cosmic Trigger, 54).
