My Miss Mo Puts Her Form on the Line in the Monmouth Oaks

OCEANPORT, New Jersey (Special for Turf Diario).- A G1 winner boasting a career defined by consistency, My Miss Mo will seek to further consolidate her status among the top 3-year-old fillies in the United States when she headlines the Monmouth Oaks (G3) this Saturday, a traditional 1700-meter test offering a $150,000 purse at Monmouth Park.

Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. for Averill Racing, Mathis Stable, and Tristan De Meric, the daughter of the memorable Uncle Mo enters off a solid victory in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2), run May 15 at Laurel Park, where she defeated Jumping the Gun (Gun Runner) by 1 3/4 lengths—one of the rivals she will face once again.

Prior to that success, the filly had proven her caliber with back-to-back runner-up finishes in G2 events: the Davona Dale Stakes and the Gulfstream Park Oaks, competing consistently against the division's elite.

Her numbers reflect remarkable consistency. In six career starts, My Miss Mo has finished first or second on five occasions, accumulating earnings of $328,030. Bred in Florida, she is out of In a Dream (Quality Road) and was purchased for $320,000 at the 2025 Ocala March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training.

The main threat appears to be Jumping the Gun once again, trained by Andrew Simoff for Imaginary Stables, who will attempt to turn the tables after finishing runner-up to the favorite at Laurel.

The daughter of Gun Runner is also riding a wave of steady form; following her second-place finish in the Black-Eyed Susan, she occupied that same position in the Delaware Oaks (G3), finishing just 1 1/4 lengths behind Luv Your Neighbor (Constitution).

"I'm very pleased with her. She has been facing top-level competition, and based on how she is training, I expect her to take that step forward we need in this race," Simoff commented.

During her 2-year-old campaign, Jumping the Gun never finished worse than second in five starts, highlighted by victories in the Blue Hen Stakes (L) and the Small Wonder Stakes (L), both at Delaware Park.

The field also features two entrants cross-entered in the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) at Saratoga: Zany(American Pharoah), from the powerhouse Todd Pletcher barn, and Miss Fulton Gal (Rock Your World).

Zany will attempt to bounce back after a sub-par sixth-place effort in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) and could race with blinkers for the first time, while Miss Fulton Gal enters on the rise following a victory in the Christiana Stakes (L) on a sloppy track at Delaware Park.

Another contender of interest will be Point of Reference (Upstart), representing Klaravich Stables and trained by Chad Brown, coming off a solid performance where she rallied from the tail of the field to finish second in the Monomoy Girl Overnight Stakes (L) at Churchill Downs.

Completing the field are Pashmina (Constitution), Laken (Good Magic), Majestic Lucia (McKinzie), Bodacious Bay (Not This Time), and Ivy Girl (Maxfield), in a Monmouth Oaks that brings together an even and competitive group.

However, based on current form and class credentials, My Miss Mo stands as the logical benchmark and the filly to beat on the doorstep of the major second-half engagements.
