No More Time, current top-tier bloodlines to renew excitement at Haras Rancho Sur

The son of Not This Time, winner of the Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3) and runner-up by a nose to Domestic Product in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3), arrived in Peru to stand at stud for the Larco family's breeding operation

LIMA, Peru (Special for Turf Diario).— A new era is dawning for Haras Rancho Sur with the addition of No More Time (Not This Time), a horse with an outstanding graded stakes campaign in the United States and, above all, the bearer of a high-profile international pedigree, who will begin standing at stud for the Larco family's operation in the coming days. The dark bay's arrival in Peru was made possible through a joint effort between the Argentine firm Perhaps Bloodstock, led by Diego Mitagstein, and journalist Néstor Obregón Rossi, both specializing in pedigrees and the international thoroughbred market.

There is no shortage of reasons to build high expectations around No More Time. To an imposing physical presence and a racing campaign that had him practically qualified for the Kentucky Derby (G1), he adds a rare genetic combination that projects him as one of the most intriguing stallion recruits for Peruvian breeding in recent memory.

Born on February 25, 2021, No More Time was acquired as a yearling at Keeneland by renowned bloodstock agents Randy Hartley and Dean DeRenzo for Morplay Racing LLC, the racing stable of Puerto Rican music executive Rich Mendez—an owner who achieved international acclaim with Shisospicy (Mitole), winner of the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1).

Entrusted to Venezuelan trainer José Francisco “Kikito” D'Angelo, he debuted with a second-place finish at Gulfstream Park before quickly confirming expectations by breaking his maiden there by a commanding 6 3/4 lengths over the mile, stopping the clock in 1m37s01/100.

His initial stakes attempt came in the Mucho Macho Man Stakes (L), where he finished fifth, under 4 lengths behind, following a troubled trip right from the break; he ducked upward as the doors opened and proved headstrong through the opening meters, relinquishing position that proved impossible to fully recover.

His redemption was swift and decisive. No More Time traveled to Tampa Bay Downs and captured the Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3-1,700 m), defeating, among others, graded stakes winners Agate Road (Quality Road) and West Saratoga (Exaggerator). Stopping the clock in 1m44s41/100, he also began accumulating crucial points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.

D'Angelo knew he had a top-class colt on his hands and raised the stakes in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3), again over 1,700 meters. There, No More Time delivered one of the finest performances of his campaign, leading through much of the stretch before falling by a mere nose to Domestic Product (Practical Joke).

Time would only add luster to that effort. Domestic Product went on to become one of the premier runners of his generation, capturing the Dwyer Stakes (G3) and the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (G1), in addition to finishing third in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1), before joining the stallion roster at Ashford Stud.

With 45 qualifying points accumulated toward the Kentucky Derby, No More Time had virtually guaranteed himself a stall in the starting gate at Churchill Downs and was targeting his next start in the Florida Derby (G1). However, just as he reached the peak of his form, he suffered a tendon injury that forced him out of training.

Given ample time to recover, his connections ultimately chose to transition him to a stud career, confident that both his race record and pedigree provided more than enough credentials to turn him into a promising sire.

If one factor bolsters the expectations surrounding No More Time, it is being a son of Not This Time (Giant's Causeway), one of the most important and sought-after stallions in the world today. His progeny continues to amass top-tier performers, including Epicenter, Up to the Mark, Cogburn, and Sibelius, among many others, establishing a sire line that has quickly become one of the most coveted in the global industry.

For Peru, there is an added attraction. Not This Time is a son of the unforgettable Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat), a sire line that has already yielded outstanding results in local breeding through stallions such as Land of the Giants, Kung Fu Mambo, Man of Iron, and Riviera Cocktail.

The other major influence in the pedigree of Not This Time comes from Trippi, tracing back to Forty Niner—another genetic branch that found remarkable success across South America.

No More Time is out of Baroness Juliette, a daughter of the brilliant Speightstown, a cross that blends speed, precocity, and class. The Not This Time over Speightstown mares cross has already produced top-level results, anchored by G1 winner Just One Time.

The female line depth does not end there. Baroness Juliette was a winner at 3 and saw her first three foals to reach the races all become winners. The family's rising commercial value was underscored when she sold for $270,000 at Fasig-Tipton in February 2024.

His second dam, Juliette Ava (Medaglia d'Oro), belongs to a branch of tremendous consistency. She is a half-sister to G1 winner Siphonic and stakes winner Mountain Girl, as well as Lady Siphonica, whose female family leads directly to Mystik Dan (Goldencents), hero of the Kentucky Derby (G1) and runner-up in the Preakness Stakes (G1). Another half-sister is Rose of Summer, dam of multiple graded stakes winner and sire Summer Front, and Laragh, a top-flight winner who later produced high-caliber runners in Japan.

No More Time traces to family 4-r, historically one of the most prolific branches in the global Stud Book, which produced icons of the stature of Nearco, Dynaformer, Monarchos, Mucho Macho Man, Zenyatta, and War Front.

A graded stakes campaign, physical presence, speed, and a top-class pedigree all converge in No More Time, who arrives to enrich the stallion roster at Rancho Sur, joining names like Floriform, Southdale, and Unbridled Command.
