The son of Le Blues proved relentless in running down the pacesetting Maranelo under Rodrigo Blanco, while Senzatta dominated the final of the Copa Criadores de Entre Ríos

Consistency has never been Peso Argentino’s greatest strength, but on Thursday he showed up in top form and captured the Handicap Laramie Trail (1000 meters, dirt), the feature event on the card at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo.
Coming off a respectable seventh-place finish in the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1), the son of Le Blueshad already demonstrated his ability at this level when he crossed the wire first in last August’s Handicap Día del Médico Veterinario, although he was subsequently disqualified after testing positive.
Carrying 55 1/2 kilos, the runner from Stud Mis Cocos, based in Concepción del Uruguay, also provided jockey Rodrigo Blanco with a welcome return to the winner’s circle at the stakes level after resuming his riding career just a few weeks ago following a lengthy absence from the saddle.
Approaching his seventh birthday, Peso Argentino never strayed far from pace-setting Maranelo (Holy Boss, 59 kilos), who dictated the tempo through fractions of :23.11 and :44.91.
Inside the final 200 meters, however, the leader began to show signs of fatigue and the eventual winner gradually wore him down before taking command in the final furlong and drawing away to score by one length.
Game as ever, Maranelo held second, a half-length ahead of Grilldado (Dado Vuelta, 53) in third, with the final time a solid :57.37.
Bred by Haras Santa Elena and trained by Luis A. Ojeda, Peso Argentino now owns six victories from 27 starts, with earnings rising to 22,140,253 pesos.
Senzatta Tops the Entrerrianos
Earlier on the program, the 2026 Copa Criadores de Entre Ríos Final (1000 meters, dirt) for 2-year-olds was contested, though only two of the six originally entered runners went to the post.
When the decisive moment arrived, Senzatta (Zensational) produced a late surge to nail Vida Suprema (Qué Vida Buena) right on the wire, defeating the long-time leader by a head in a modest :59.49.
Maximiliano Aserito was aboard the filly, who is trained by Miguel Medina and races for Stud Par de Locos.
