The Santa María de Araras homebred feels right at home on the turf straight, where this time she will face 5 rivals carrying 55 kilos

An afternoon of racing on an unusual day and with low overall quality is set for today at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, where the peak of interest will be the Clásico Miss Terrible (1000m, turf). This handicap for fillies and mares 3 years old and up honors the unforgettable champion of Haras Firmamento, a true emblem of Juan Carlos Bagó’s stud.
As has become custom, the turnout was not very large; only six participants will line up at the end of the straight to compete for a winner's prize of just 7,600,000 pesos. It is simply not good business to own quality horses in Argentina, because there are no races for them, and when there are, they run for pennies...
The occasion looks ideal for Pretoriana (Daniel Boone) to continue growing in the division, carrying just 55 kilos. The Santa María de Ararás homebred has been achieving good results since dropping down to pure sprinting, defeating Vieja Amiga Mask (Mask) in the Clásico Potri Pe before falling to that same rival in the Aníbal D. Etchart.
Crossing her path are several high-level rivals currently in recovery phases. One is Flamboyance Rim (Remote, 60), who will carry a demanding top weight upon her return to the track where she won the Clásico Ocurrencia (G3) last August. Since then, she has added several close finishes, such as her second in the Venezuela (G2) and her notable fifth in the Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1); therefore, she could easily reclaim the headlines.
The quality of Save Your Tears (Full Mast, 58) is beyond question, with titles in the Clásico Francia (L) and Florentino Ameghino. She hasn't run since December and is dropping back in distance, but she will be a tough contender if her health permits.
Along the same lines is Forever Rim (Remote, 56), winner of the Producción Nacional (L), though physical issues often cause her setbacks. Guapa Pasea (Leofric, 51) and Tibetana (Maranesi, 53 1/2) will attempt an upset backed by their low weights, though the challenge appears difficult.
