The festive Sunday at Hipódromo de San Isidro will open its stakes action with the Clásico Fondistas Provinciales(2000m, turf), a race that has recently become a fixture in the northern calendar and is open to horses that have placed in leading middle-distance events held across Argentina’s provincial circuits.

With a winner’s prize of 7,540,000 pesos, one of the standout names is Purity Spring (Greenspring), the Rosario-based runner trained by Daniel Cima. He has captured his last nine starts at Hipódromo Independencia, his only recent blemish coming in mid-August 2024 when he finished fifteenth over the San Isidro turf in the G3 General Pueyrredón.

Looking for redemption, he’ll face a stiff challenge, including from Bonificado (Equal Stripes), who dazzled with a 10-length romp in the Clásico Estrellas Azuleñas before disappointing in two subsequent starts on the major circuit.

Cornwall (Remote) has enjoyed a productive local campaign and impressed at Hipódromo de Azul, winning the Especial 25 de Mayo de 1810 by four lengths over a mile. He also owns a victory under conditions similar to what he’ll face this time.

Plenty of battle-tested experience belongs to Eritrean (Il Campione), who was fourth last out behind Royal Rimout(Remote), while Clandestino Soy (Daniel Boone) comes in off a commanding turf mile win at San Isidro and now aims to make his mark at the stakes level.
