The filly carrying the colors of Stud Carpucho comfortably outclassed Salema to spearhead a commanding 1-2 finish for trainer Marcelo Sueldo at La Plata

LA PLATA.— At 4:30 PM, as the Clásico Diego White (G3-1,700m, normal dirt)—the premier event of Sunday's compelling program at the local track—got underway, she could easily have lived up to her name and taken a nice long nap in her stable at San Isidro's Campo 2.
Instead, the Stud Carpucho chestnut made the trip to the city of avenues to return to winning ways and solidify her status as one of the standout fillies of the local season. A previous winner of the Clásico Raúl Aristegui (G2) and runner-up to Personal Filly (Dabster) in the Clásico Polla de Potrancas (G2), she now captured the traditional stepping stone toward the Gran Premio Selección de Potrancas (G1), spearheading a 1-2 finish for trainer Marcelo Sueldo.
With the defection of Xurra (Forge)—victor of the Clásico Miguel Luis Morales (G2) and one of the pre-race heavyweights—things proved rather straightforward for Siesta, expertly guided by a supremely composed Gonzalo Borda.
The race unfolded with Salema (Il Mercato), Sueldo's other entrant, and Missing You (Señor Candy) disputing the pace up front, while the heavy favorite traveled close behind in third, fully alert.
Once into the stretch, just as Salema had taken command, Siesta launched her bid on the outside, easily collared her stablemate, and drove resolutely toward the finish line, crossing with a 2 1/2-length advantage. A further length back, Agua Danzante (Interdetto) completed the trifecta, stopping the clock in 1:44.07.
Bred by Haras La Nora, Siesta fuels high hopes ahead of the local Oaks—which in 2026 will stage its final edition as a G1—backed by a pedigree built for classic distances. Her sire, Cityscape, is renowned for passing down a strong dose of stamina.
On the dam's side, she is out of Everquest (Asiatic Boy), hailing from the prestigious E family and sharing a mother with Mama Nanzy (Equal Stripes), who captured the Clásico Enrique Ayulo Pardo (G1) at Monterrico, Peru, a couple of years ago.
Siesta added another stakes victory to her resume, maintained her outstanding form, and now sets her sights on the ultimate target for fillies at La Plata. She will undoubtedly be the one to beat.
