Less than two weeks ago, Pasión del Alma Pass (Distinctiv Passion) defeated Siete Lagos by 7 lengths over 1100 meters on a heavy dirt track at San Isidro Racecourse when both made their debuts.

This Friday, on the turf straight over a one-kilometer trip, the story was entirely different, with the daughter of Full Mastbreaking her maiden in the Clásico Islas Malvinas (L) while her previous conqueror faltered at the 200-meter mark to finish last, more than 11 lengths back.

How can such a contrast between one race and the other be explained? Primarily, free from inexperience, Siete Lagosimproved and clearly felt much more comfortable on firm turf than on altered dirt. Meanwhile, Pasión del Alma Passwas a shadow of herself, looking uncomfortable throughout despite leading for a stretch. A veterinary examination will likely yield some answers.

A homebred for Gran Muñeca trained by Diego Peña—though presented by Rogelio AlvisSiete Lagos ended up prevailing by 1 length over Sixties Pen (Sixties Song), who rebounded after a very poor performance against the colts in the Congreve (L).

Stopping the clock in 57.53s, Siete Lagos is a name to follow in the sprinting division, being the best foal to date out of Sureña Key (Key Deputy), with the line of Cris Flame (Bold Flame) as genetic backing and the seal of El Alfalfar, where the family was raised.
