Last Year’s Top Colt at La Plata heads back to his favorite track to take on Mannarino, Endo Verde, El Darwin and other formidable challengers

LA PLATA.— Staying horses will take center stage this Thursday at the city’s racetrack, where the Comparación Stakes (L, 2200m) promises a high-quality contest along the road toward December’s Gran Premio Dardo Rocha (G1).
Open to horses three and up under weight-for-age conditions, the feature will be further complicated by a rain-affected surface, adding another layer of difficulty for all involved. Quality is in no short supply among the seven confirmed runners, headed by Sono Perfetto, last season’s top colt at La Plata, who returns after finishing fourth, 6 1/4 lengths behind El Emporio (Il Campione) in the Clásico Otoño (G2) at Palermo.
Winner of the José Pedro Ramírez (G3), Provincia de Buenos Aires (G2) and Clausura (G2)—the latter against older rivals—the son of Tetaze, trained by Omar Labanca, will take on the hard-knocking Mannarino, who comes into the race in winning form after scoring in the Clásico Alejandro Korn.
A winner at two of the Coronel Miguel F. Martínez (G3) at Palermo and with solid experience, the son of Cosmic Trigger, trained by Pedro Molina at San Isidro’s Campo 2, faces a much tougher assignment here.
After a standout campaign in the interior, Endo Verde (Endorsement) returns to familiar territory, where his career began. He captured the Gran Premio Vicente Dupuy (G3) at La Punta in 2025 and arrives off a fresh victory in the Clásico Vendimia in Mendoza.
Another proven performer is El Darwin (Il Campione), who continues to hold his own at nearly eight years of age. Absent for almost three months, the Gastón Sessa trainee most recently finished second to Sono Perfetto in the Clausura and runner-up to Hit Colchonero (Hit It a Bomb) in the Clásico Uruguay.
Labanca will also saddle Amuni (Tetaze), third in the Clausura and fourth in the Oswaldo Aranha (L), while Ruso Real(In the Dark) and Társico Sam (Társico) appear as longer shots but are capable of making their presence felt.
