ARCADIA, California (Special for Turf Diario).- Saturday’s card at Santa Anita Park promises top-class action. With three Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In”qualifiers and a 10-race program, the spotlight will fall squarely on the return of blue-blooded filly Tamara, who lines up in the Chillingworth Stakes (G3, 6 1/2 furlongs, $100,000).

A daughter of none other than four-time champion and Hall of Famer Beholder (Henny Hughes), the Spendthrift Farmcolorbearer has not raced since last November at Del Mar, when she was narrowly beaten in an allowance by the later stakes winner Sandy Bottom (Omaha Beach). One month earlier, she started favored in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Santa Anita but was unable to land a blow.

Under the care of Richard Mandella, Tamara has posted nine works since July 31, including a sharp half-mile in :47 flat last Sunday—the second-fastest of 102 moves at the distance that morning. With Hall of Famer Mike Smith back aboard, she will be the afternoon’s star attraction in a race set to air on CNBC as part of NBC Sports’ coverage.

Her biggest threat looms in Silent Law (Tiz the Law), from the Bob Baffert barn, who cuts back in distance after trying her luck going longer. A winner of the Anoakia Stakes here at two and runner-up in Del Mar’s Desi Arnaz, she was second earlier this season in the Santa Anita Oaks (G2) before finishing eighth in the San Clemente (G2) on turf. With leading rider Juan Hernández in the irons, she’ll look to spoil the comeback party.

Rounding out the field are Baela (City of Light), Chismosa (Clubhouse Ride), and Ang N Ash (Audible), all ready to capitalize should the favorites falter.

The Chillingworth Stakes goes as race two on the program, with a scheduled post time of 1:30 p.m. local.
