In an afternoon of grand spectacles, the Gran Premio de las Américas - OSAF (G1-1600 m, dirt) stands as a landmark. Even with the absence of El Exito (Il Campione), winner of the last two editions who was not ratified, the race has lost no strength, featuring nearly all the top references of the division today.

It will be a battle between the colts attempting to climb the first rungs of the category ranking and the seasoned veterans—G1 winners who, like veteran football players, use their craftiness to keep the youngsters from stealing the spotlight.

It is exceedingly difficult to find a clear favorite; in fact, there isn't one. On the contrary, several names appear on the front line, such as Nevado Catedral (Gouverneur Morris) and Comando Secreto (War Command), who are coming off a passionate finish in the Clásico Benito Villanueva (G2). In that instance, the former narrowly held off the Stud Sixa star, who hung badly in the straight—had he not, the result might have been different.

The OSAF will also feature the return of the reigning Champion Miler Earth God (Cosmic Trigger), a horse with four G1 victories already under his belt who has yet to win in 2026, though he has always performed up to expectations. Will he reveal his best version today?

Now fully tightened after their layoffs, Gardel Pass (Distinctiv Passion) and Drive Joy (Fortify) return to the track and distance where they finished in that order in the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G1) a few months ago, a race where both suffered injuries. The latter was recently crowned the previous calendar's Champion 2-Year-Old Colt.

But there is more, as the gutsy Storm Sound (Hi Happy) will also be in the gates. The undisputed top miler of the previous season at La Plata, he arrives looking to bounce back after a very dull performance there.

Majority Wins (Master of Hounds) is one of those horses ready to make the leap and cause an upset, while Qué Tarde Gris (Il Campione) could make his extensive experience felt, along with the momentum of his recent neck victory over Earth God in the Clásico América (G2) at San Isidro. A truly great race awaits.
