At age 8, and after an unsuccessful stint at stud, the grey who arrived from the United States reached glory in the G1 Jockey Club del Perú and moved everyone to tears

LIMA, Perú (Special for Turf Diario).- Racing, like life, is full of unexpected turns. When doors close and dreams fall apart, fate can take a sharp turn to transform those bitter moments into stories worth telling—ones that give depth to a sport where anything can happen.
When Haras Rancho Fátima purchased Enforceable in the U.S. a couple of years ago to add him to their stallion roster, not even the wildest imagination could have predicted what was to come.
The son of Tapit turned out to be infertile, and plans had to change—fast. He was promptly sent back to the track, quickly sold to Stud Jet, and just as swiftly, he turned his story around. This past Sunday, at eight years old, Enforceable achieved the most significant victory of his career in the G1 Clásico Jockey Club del Perú, the highlight of a festive afternoon at Monterrico.
The same horse who once ran in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and won the Lecomte Stakes (G3), whose promise once soared only to be dashed by the stallion barn setback, became unstoppable on the racetrack—reinvigorated and in form after a long layoff.
Enforceable had returned to the winner’s circle in July of 2024, taking the G3 Clásico Independencia, but only resurfaced this April, landing the Listed Clásico Aniversario de la Fundación del Jockey Club del Perú, before finishing third behind Gluck (Koko Mambo) and Serafin (Street Lolo) in La Copa (G2).
This time, it was revenge. He held off Don't Lose Time (Carpe Diem) by 3/4 of a length after an intense battle from the break with hot favorite Gluck, who carried him out into the middle of the track at the top of the lane, costing valuable ground. Enforceable still overcame the adversity, with Serafin just a neck back in third and Gluck another neck behind in fourth. Final time: 2:36.12 for the 2400 meters.
Víctor Salazar guided Enforceable to victory for trainer Juan Suárez B., giving the gray his seventh win in 31 starts—four of them since arriving in Peru.
The horse once bought to be a stallion finally met glory on the racetrack, proving once more that second chances do exist—and that in racing, nothing is impossible.
