The stud farm where Life of Victory, Petit Club, Second Reality, and so many other cracks were born, will offer its entire breeding stock

This Tuesday will mark the third stud farm dispersal so far this season, a symptom of the sad moment facing national racing, which has yet to find a logical contingency umbrella, with rock-bottom purses that will only ensure these types of events—which make no one happy—continue to occur.

Following the virtual disappearance of Aitué and Comalal (in its new stage), it is now the turn of Orilla del Monte, a breeding operation that grew tired of producing great horses and winning important races and is now putting a lock on its operation.

Life of Victory (Incurable Optimist), Second Reality (Hidden Prize), Petit Club (Southern Halo), Feet of Clay(Hidden Prize), Pick Out (Brancusi), Fire Wall (Incurable Optimist), Ivory Tower (Southern Halo), Magnetic Eyes (Sky Classic), True Passion (Orpen)—the important names bred at the Lagos family's stud farm come easily to mind when putting them to paper...

Under the hammer of Antonio Bullich SA., the Orilla del Monte dispersal will take place this Tuesday starting at 4:00 p.m. in a virtual format, offering all broodmares, 2023 foals, and 2024 foals.

Among the producers, daughters of Orpen (Lure), Freud (Giant's Causeway), Treasure Beach (Galileo), Hurricane Cat (Storm Cat), Catcher In the Rye (Danehill), Pleasant Tap (Pleasant Colony), Footstepsinthesand (Giant's Causeway), and Exchange Rate (Danzig), etc., will be sold, in foal to Ever Daddy (Daddy Long Legs), Treasure Beach, Roman Joy (Fortify), Mutasaabeq (Into Mischief), and Village King (Campanologist).

Standing out in the group are the G2-placed Same Story (Orpen), who has already produced the stakes-placed Same Treasure (Treasure Beach) and is in foal to Treasure Beach; Tapzig (Pleasant Tap), dam of G2 winner Tit Ruler(Roman Ruler) and G1-placed Cry Me a River (Not for Sale); G1-placed In Exchange (Exchange Rate); and Leading the Group (Treasure Beach), a sister to champion Life of Victory and G1 winner Leading the Way(Brancusi).

Among the 2024 foals are offspring of Treasure Beach, Hi Happy (Pure Prize), Dr. Post (Quality Road), Satono Flag (Deep Impact), Village King (Campanologist), Mutasaabeq (Into Mischief), and Roman Joy (Fortify).

When identifying the most valuable pieces within that lot, they include Tip Happy (Hi Happy), a maternal sister to Tit Ruler and Cry Me A River; My Star Joy (Roman Joy), a maternal sister to the stakes winner in Uruguay Rusopérez(Honour and Glory); and Lakes Kid (Village King), out of G3 winner Last Graffiti (Curlinello).

As for the 2023 products—the current generation—offspring of Treasure Beach, Il Campione (Scat Daddy), Roman Joy, and Village King are presented, all of them fillies and mostly reserved.

The disappearance of the beloved Haras Orilla del Monte is another heavy blow for the already battered Argentine turf, but also an opportunity for other surviving breeders to acquire genetics that for many seasons provided the fans with horses of enormous hierarchy.
