The chestnut showed great form once again, defeating the males from wire to wire in the kilometer of the Handicap Vitelio

Good form in racehorses is respected, and highly so. If you don't believe it, just ask the rivals of Tormenta China, the mare that extended her great current run with a notable victory in the Handicap Vitelio (1,000 m, normal dirt), the main event of a meeting at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo with a very low technical level (yet another one...).
Carrying a permissive 55 1/2 kilos, the daughter of Malenchini achieved her fourth consecutive victory, her second at the intermediate stakes level, but now defeating the males—lending a hand to those who support the maxim that the girls are faster than the boys.
In truth, it was practically no race at all for the representative of the Pampean stud Flo-Ma-Lo. Taking advantage of her outside draw, the chestnut quickly took the lead, established herself on the outside part of the track, and never let any of her adversaries get close.
With a firm stride and quick splits of 22s82/100 and 44s77/100, everything was already decided by the halfway point. Upon crossing the wire, the heavy favorite (paying $1.90) established a 3-length difference over her fellow countryman Tex for Sale (Nashville Texan, 59 1/2), while Bank One (Lenovo, 56), who was one of those chasing her from the start, completed the trifecta, just a cinch behind.
The one who flew much lower than expected this time was Príncipe Soñado (Fragotero, 60), finishing only fifth, 7 lengths back. The race time was 57s51/100 (the track remains tough), and there were 3 scratches from the original list, including the stakes winner Filoso Class (Filoso Emperor).
Presented by Miguel A. Natali, Tormenta China was guided with his usual effectiveness by Emanuel Jairo Flores, and now totals 7 victories in 17 starts—3 above common levels—and nearly 45 million pesos in earnings.
The mare is the best offspring to date for the group winner Malenchini (Lizard Island), and her dam is Irish Storm(Storm Surge), from a family based at Haras Ojo de Agua that found continuity primarily through Haras Firmamentoand Vacación.
