Stud Rubio B. and Haras La Pasión are enjoying a banner run. Just one week after Rollanda and Gigantografía (both by Bodemeister) secured a notable stakes double for Ricardo Benedicto’s team, the momentum continued this Friday. Victoria Bayern delivered a sharp performance to capture the Handicap Ipe (1400m, dirt), the second feature on the San Isidro card.

Moments after William Pereyra guided Buen Escosés—also a La Pasión product—to victory in the Especial El Serrano, the jockey doubled up with this daughter of champion Santillano (Easing Along). At age five, the mare is clearly in career-best form, fueling aspirations for even higher-level competition.

Sent off as the $2.30 favorite, Victoria Bayern faced one of the deepest fields of her career. Verenna (Cosmic Trigger, 60kg) set the early pace, closely tracked by the light-weighted Plácida Campiona (Il Campione, 52.5kg). Pereyra kept the winner in the clear, stalking from third to avoid any traffic trouble.

In the stretch, Victoria Bayern launched an outside bid just as the gray Vieja Amiga Mask (Mask, 59kg) made her move from further back. The chestnut got the jump on her rival and maintained the advantage to the wire, finishing two lengths clear in a solid 1:22.46.

Verenna turned in a gritty effort to hold third, another three lengths back, while highweight Adi Shakti (Lucullan, 61kg)could only manage eighth.

Conditioned by Juan C. Etchechoury (h.), Victoria Bayern now boasts six wins from 16 starts and is on the verge of surpassing $40 million (ARS) in career earnings. For the Rubio B. operation, the hope is that this string of high-profile successes shows no signs of slowing down.
